We're back with nr. 4 in our podcast series, brought to you straight out of Malmö by H.H.A.S (@hihatappreciationsociety) member Sune (@emilsunesson).

A house head for sure, he often labels the music he makes and plays the most as "honey butter", a great term to sum up the vibes he strives to transmit - a lot of organic elements, smooth rhodes, keys and strings, rare samples from great songs from decades back, combined with driving hi-hats and percussion. 

In his own words, "this mix contains tracks from my friends, those I admire and of course some upcoming releases of my own. hope you dig!"

Loz Goddard is a man, a man who creates fine house music with a disco twist. Hailing from Manchester in the UK, he has released music on labels such as Outplay, Razor-N-Tape, Quintesstials, Secret Reels and Large. Anyone who has seen him play or listened to his staple 'Downtown Groove Sessions' monthly radio show will know he blends leftfield jazz twinged house with disco stompers and straight up groovers with ease, truly a DJ that caters for all tastes.

Today we ask him some questions about his approach to making music and what he has planned for the future. Loz has also kindly put together a mix for us to accompany the interview.

A Master number is a double-digit number which also comes from a single root number. Saint Augustine stated that “the number 11 is the blazon of sin”. I call bullshit. eleven is number were up to, and this episode is brought to you by the enigmatic maestro Woz aka Perrindome aka the 3D dreamboat aka the acapella prince aka vanilla Craig David. 

I’ll start from the beginning, I met Woz in Hamburg, we clubbed, was dope, we chilled after, also dope, and then this mthfkr starts spitting out Quasimoto acapella’s bis die Kühe nach Hause kommen! I knew then and there that Woz is king. Possibly one of Melbourne best DJ’s in possibly one of Melbourne’s best crews, Loose Joint’s! I booked to him to play at a party once just so I could take notes and study him, didn’t work. This man can play anything and everything, from Amazonian trap to Vietnamese free jazz, jumping between each genre like an Olympic trampolinist. He was born to play records, it's just a bonus that we get to benefit from it. 

The Mix, an unbelievably well curated selection of modern classical hip/trip hop, bugged out funk and the non HMV section of ‘world music’. An instant classic in every which way, if you don’t like it you’re in the wrong place and there’s a chance you might be an idiot (see a doctor) Its pairs particularly well Sunday afternoons or any afternoon really.

For number 12 you’re going to need your passport, we’re going to New York, to be more specific, Brooklyn and your tour guide for the trip will be Dj Speculator aka Willie Burns aka Black Deer aka the George Lucas of house music. 

Mr. Burns is a busy man, between fixing the world's problems through repairing synths, hosting his weekly radio show WTBS, running a WT records, producing, remixing, playing around the world on the reg and directing some seriously good mini-movies with Legowelt, he somehow managed to fit in this pearler of a mix for us. 

For someone whose entire existence is based around music the mix itself perfectly sums up his entire resume. Weaving through nearly every aspect of music, an electronic roller coaster of brutalist nostalgia. Another great mix for a night time road trip.

Anyway, back to it! number 13! we’re into the teenage years, so expect some unexplained moodiness, rebelliousness, experimentalism, pretty much the same shit that's been going since we began.

Seeing as he’s one of the brains behind Skydiver records he’s basically cheating but who cares, this mix is something else and by something else I mean its amazing and by amazing I mean it’s a well constructed and thought out journey through the metaphorical social awareness of one's self *cough* voyeuristic tribalism’s, off-field recordings, hypnotic ensembles, all melded together to form the perfect soundtrack to explore the unexplored. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you number 14. not much lore around the number so lets dive straight into the mix to create that future lore, as this mix will change the meaning of the number for years to come. 

Your sherpa for this transmission is local pin-up pool shark Elliot Ofmarco aka Snooker Steve aka the Robin Hood of house music aka the governor of funk town. The kindest soul on both sides of the turntables, the man can mix his way out of paper bag and into the fry pan. A constant in the Melbourne nightclub scene and a subconscious staple in everyone's diet, he’s one of them ‘Dj’s’, true to the term in every way possible, can play anything, any time to anyone and this mix is the perfect example. 

Like having a bottomless stomach at all you can eat buffet, there’s everything you could ever want in an audible feast. Like changing lanes on the M1 in a 2009 Camry, this ride consists of smooth cruise speeds, effortless overtaking and supreme comfort all whilst enjoying the majestically sufficient interior. 

The mix pairs perfectly for a dinner party with close friends and maybe some new ones who you want to impress, time to bring out the fondue set and pre-order your ubers.

You would think by now that numbers would be null and void but what about in twenty years when people are trying to search for this mix on the 'future net' or their google fridge or even on their 'smart belt', whatever the future holds is irrelevant to the now, but we must associate a number with a name, in this case, it's number 15 and the name attached is the one and only Andy Garvey, aka the Sydney based siren aka the electro-static wunderkind aka the Pete Tong of NSW aka DJ wasabi pea. 


With her multi-frequency radio superpowers and ridiculously good DJ skills, she has established herself as one of the cornerstones of Sydney's realm of noise. Through these avenues she has not only carried the flag of high-quality tunes, she has raised it on all angles and continues to do so, fighting the good fight, traveling the country spreading the word of our lord and savior' decent tunes to dance to' 


Her show 'Pure Space' on Sydney's FBI radio has been a shoulder of a good friend for some time now, constantly delivering new music and talent from around the world. (Tip!) but she's also used her powers on triple j to expose the people of Aus to some seriously good music whereas otherwise, they would be none the wiser, I consider her some kind of professor and she lectures every week on the benefits of discovering new music. As well as holding it down as a shit-hot DJ, with her pH.D. in all things electro (insert Latin term for electronic music) 

This mix tho, damn. Nailed the brief (or lack thereof) I'm running out of terms to describe 'a trip' but who cares, it's what it's all about, a story that will never be written, a soundtrack to a movie that will never be made, anyway. A perfectly executed ensemble of different styles and genre's all woven into quilt worthy of your own grandmother. Everything you could ever want in an hour of music, consider it her resume for every job in the job. 

I was lucky enough to play with Andy up in Queensland at Andromeda festival (also tip!) and she blew me bleeding socks off and then out partied me and then left me in a stairwell 7000k's from home. I learned a few things that night, but I've followed Andy's movements since and she has reached legend status and she deserves every bit of it. 

Enough dribble. Go and listen to the mix again and then once more.

I honestly can’t believe we’ve made it to number 20, obviously, you’re all still listening for some weird reason, I hope its the same reason I’m still putting out the mixes. 

it fills me with immense joy to bring you number twenty by way of DJ Regret aka Unfettered aka captain jack sparrow aka the dreadlocked dreidel aka Scott Levy not reddy. This bloke has been one of the driving forces in my musical life, especially in the birth of the concept of this whole series. He has delivered a beautiful journey just shy of 4 hours. As mentioned before Scott has been a musical compass for me for last 15 years, consistently being ahead of curve, actually he creates the curves every year his set from Inner Varnika will be echoed throughout the year through every other Melbourne DJ and spotify enthusiast. Mimicked but never reproduced. Consistently adding his beautiful compositions to the ‘Trushmix’ series by our burger brethren.

I've also been throwing parties with him for the past 10 years, we started the now-defunct Out of Focus (rip) together, he started Sound of Thought (rip) and then we went on to start Inner Varnika, I’m very happy to of shared my journey with Scott and I’m not actually sure I’d be here without him, he has and always will keep me grounded. So after months of hassling he finally shot me something, a recording from a house party some weeks ago, basic setup, a huge vibe that builds into the evening/morning recording on a shitty mixer the peaks on a few songs so please bare with it. 

On that note, turn your brightness all the way down and grab a cold beverage from the fridge and enjoy the trip!

Tronik Youth is Neil Parnell, a well-respected DJ, producer and label boss of Nein Records in the UK. Tronik has released numerous singles and around 100 remixes over the last decade, with current singles Psycho Bubble and The Shaker still in many DJs‘ bags and on Beatport charts. He is about to release his second album called Neon Disease. He has also released an album of ambient/drone music under his own name to strong acclaim this year, and his debut album Youth Is Wasted On The Young, featuring Factory Floor’s Gabe Gurnsey on drums, was released in July 2015.

The Nein record label he owns and runs includes esteemed artists such as Rodion, Black Light Smoke, Roe Deers, Daniele Baldelli, DJ Rocca, Cabaret Nocturne, Two Mamarrachos, Emperor Machine, Antoni Miaovvi, Gemini Brothers, Man Power, Heretic and Curses. He was voted in the top 30 artists of 2016 on Beatport’s Indie Dance Genre and his label was on the website top ten labels. Nein was also in Resident Advisors top 100 charted labels for 2016.

Last year he did successful tours in the USA, Mexico and Australia, also performed in numerous festivals including the well-respected Love International Festival in Croatia. He and his Label will be had their own stage at the 2018 Alfresco Festival in the UK and also at Yaga Festival in Lithuania as part of their 5th-anniversary tour.

2018 saw him celebrate Nein’s fifth year with a compilation called Nein To Five, consisting of all-new tracks. His work in the last year includes collaborations and remixes with Tunnel Signs and The Hacker.

Tronik Youth hosts the regular Nein Records flagship radio show on Cowbell, whereby each month the label selects a special guest mix. The show is already fast becoming a popular place for world premieres and a hub for social media frenzy.

Eccentric and unpredictable, this artist remains at the top of his game, signing the best underground talent from Europe to Nein Records, releasing pure quality, evident in all the Tronik Youth productions, mixes and DJ sets.
