Here's the easter egg...   John and I think the perfect song doesn't exceed three and half minutes, so every time we laid down bed tracks we'd check if we'd hit the magic time!   For this song, as I noodled around with the arrangement, I realized it was best presented as a little interlude and when it came in at 1min 15sec a new record was set!

Dead Cat

A classic example of why songs shouldn't be written by committee...  I wrote most of the music, but was struggling with the chorus.  Skin and Wang ran with the chorus and added the riff and chorus lyric. It then went sideways when Ray wrote an awful lyric, made worse by the vocal delivery; truly "barfco swill" to the zappa informed ears of the caustic Wango Tango.  So in mixdown I accidently smothered it in verb and phase shift:

I debated whether to include this song, but it does have a rare guitar solo from yours truly, which is worth preserving.

Barfco Swill

Dunlavin Rd Nunawading features heavily across the life of Giants, NTU and Charlie Don't Surf.  Skin built a mud brick room in the space below the family room, known by all as "The Dungeon".  I wrote this after a night of Port, Masarla and Karlheinz Stockhausen (Gesang der Jünglinge) in the dungeon.  Mrs Morley could put up with just about anything, except the spooky Stockhausen and about 3am put a stop to it!  
A practitioner of homeopathy, Mrs Morley was affectionately known as "the good white witch of Mitcham".  In this tale I imagined another side, where she casts us into the dungeon to drink all we wanted, but to never be let out... (to think this once was pleasure):

Town of Action (NTU)

A Mental Giants staple, and I'm delighted we have this version, which features Wang on sax - classic!  Wang nailed his synth overdubs on the other tracks each on 1st take which was impressive.  I think he only needed one or two takes for the sax overdub which we did at lightning lab ( they had mic stands!).  Anyway, when we listened back to this take I heard the horn smack the mic a few times and I was thinking we needed to do another take, however by the end we were all laughing at what a fun performance it was, despite the defects, and really reflected Wang's impulsive personality (many instances of which still make me laugh out loud decades later!).

After the band recording session, Doc and I added the intro instrumental interpreting the original Gerry Anderson Thunderbirds theme song from back in the 60's (a personal childhood TV favorite of mine!)
