Continuing the Most Violent Year Album project, NC-17 returns with the second instalment of this epic trilogy of long players.

Each part of this album series was written during a year in which the global pandemic took hold, intense political disruption created unstable futures and media outlets across the world became further polarised and outraged, creating vast swathes of angered and confused people, unsure of who to trust. This second edition encapsulates that paranoid, tense, terror - moving on from the looming dread of the unknown that formed the basis of Part 1.

Beginning each part of the album with an entirely new batch of tunes, Part 2 represents 13 of the best cuts from over 50 tracks written just for this chapter of this epic trilogy. By beginning with a fresh palette and creating entirely new music for each section NC-17 was able to keep each part distinct, and the music contained within this speaks exactly to the feelings he experienced during the project.

Alongside 8 incredible solo productions are collaborations with some of the dnb scene’s most notable talents, 5 exceptional tracks featuring Kolectiv & OB1, Myth, Philth, Dr. Apollo and Logam.

We’re very pleased to welcome back Belgian drum and bass producer Solace to Dispatch Limited, last seen on the label in 2020.

This special two-track release began life in the first lockdown of 2020. Finding the extra time to be creative a benefit, Solace was able to find a new passion and drive in his production output. But when it came to giving the track ‘Liminal Space’ a name, the lockdown started feeling strange. Empty roads, airports, city centres was a very unusual experience. Just like being at an empty airport at night, which is a classic liminal space. To be in a liminal space means to be on the precipice of something new but not quite there yet. You can be in a liminal space physically, emotionally, or metaphorically. Being in a liminal space can be incredibly uncomfortable for most people.

‘Repeat’ is also inspired by the restrictions of lockdown and life during the pandemic, perhaps in a more direct way than ‘Liminal Space.’ The title of the track came first, inspiring the whole production, and guiding the creative output of Solace.

Stepping up for the 26th release at your local Off-License, we have a brand new artist to the label, and one we have been keeping our eyes on for quite some time now, nonother than the Peurto Rican mastermind that is, Censored The Audio. Having found a firm home at a label that means so much to us, the one and only Incurzion Audio, we knew we had to try and get CTA to head up north and see what Manchester has to offer. This artist has shown time and time again how he can blend between DNB, 140, Breakbeat, Jungle, and everything in between, and sometimes even in the same track as this release will showcase. Not only has he shown this raw talent on Incurzion Audio, but also on Florida-based labels, LAFYTE Records and Back&Forward Records, and we couldn't be more pleased that he's chose us as his next destination. As the title suggests, this release is indeed native to the DNB sound which we all know and love, however, it wouldn't be native to Censored The Audio if he didn't put a unique spin into his production to show what a talented artist he truly is. From start to finish, this EP explores deeper sonics, but while doing so branches out into the experimental and cross-genre realms that not a lot of producers can pull off in such a way.
