At Overview Music we are exceptionally proud to present the next instalment in our curated LP series: Zone.

Last year’s Zone 1 was a VA compilation of epic proportions and we’ve really kept our foot on the gas for the sequel, delving into D&B’s underground to A&R some of the best talent around.

Zone 2 sees a veritable who’s who of up and coming artists, like En:vy, Cauzer and Offline, rubbing shoulders with some Overview stalwarts (hello again Gran Calavera!) alongside some of the scene’s leading lights, like Trex, Objectiv and Molecular.

Everyone’s brought their A game and the LP is, to put it mildly, packed to the brim with 21 absolute weapons. We could go on and on about it, but you should really just experience it for yourself. Prepare your ears and strap in for the rollercoaster that is Zone 2.

Written during the last 12 months of lockdown, Most Violent Year is the debut album of Canadian producer NC-17. It’s our honour to bring you this incredible body of work from one of dnb’s most exciting talents.

Known by many for his usual style of upfront, high energy, dynamic productions, often influenced by his love of film – particularly grindhouse horror and classic film/exploitation cinema.

Setting out to take the listener on a more profound, darker journey through these influences, Most Violent Year sees NC-17 demonstrate his versatility as a producer. Guiding the listener through a range of styles that might take some by surprise as he makes the very most of the long-player format.

Whilst taking particular influence from the 60s/70s horror classics Rosemary’s Baby, Exorcist and The Omen, NC-17 pays homage to the sound of late 90s tech-step dnb. Featuring collaborations with Kumarachi, Dunk, Dauntless, Yatuza and Masheen, this 13 track monster is lurking in the shadows, ready to take you to the dark side.

We welcome back the talented Ben Soundscape to Dispatch Limited for the ‘Desert Swim EP’.

Setting out to create something darker ‘My Business’ sees Ben explore heavier territory, something he is not known for in his solo production. Working late nights, uninterrupted, allowed this sound to take shape, the track taking its name from the vocal sample that feeds off the bassline, warping and distorting throughout the track.

The EP takes its name from the misheard vocal sample in the title track ‘Desert Swim’. Providing a theme and idea to the track, the idea of taking a swim in the sand reminiscent of a trip by camel across the Sahara desert, as seen in the artwork for the release.

The track ‘Breathe’ was made on a trip to Vienna to work on music with RoyGreen & Protone pre covid restrictions. Wanting to create something dancefloor but with a quirky bass hook. The end result of the regular collab session involved a lot of modulation, chopping and enveloping to get the bass groove going.

‘Instances’ is another deep roller, based on the Scorpio break – tuned it to fit perfectly with the pads and other elements in the track. It gave the track some old skool influence.

The next concept album on Dispatch comes from Italian maestro Dabs. His tech-funk layered drum & bass has often provided stand-out selections, with his name becoming a staple at parties across the likes of Europe, Australia and South America.

The high-energy, technically trained producer has offered up a massive package of tracks to capitalize on Dispatch’s colossal audience. As well as debuting his music on Eatbrain and Horizons, whilst having his own Avantgrade podium which gave him full creative control, he’d already firmly established himself within the back catalogue of Dispatch.

With support from title-winning names such as Andy C, Ed Rush & Optical and DJ Hype, his remix of Octane & DLR’s ‘Back in the Grind’ saw him step further into the roster of Dispatch Recordings alongside Cern, after the pair came under the label’s radar in 2010.

The ‘Wormatic’ LP draws many other likeminded individuals in for the ride – with collaborations alongside the likes of Nymfo (‘Walkman’), Illaman & Kwality (‘Got the Message’), Quadrant & Iris (‘Adenosine’) and Wrath (‘Last Note’).

His standalone cuts are also just as impressive, with the sweeping breaks of ‘CWM’, the throbbing electronic drums of ‘Buntlack’ and the gritty LFOs of ‘Eardrum’ all making themselves heard. Tracks such as ‘Martini’, ‘Granulair’, ‘Sleepless City’, ‘Tempra’, ‘Shape of Things’, ‘Wednesday’ and ‘Got the Message’ are all just as diligent in their manufacturing.

From beginning to end, the album is a stunning display of diversity.

Polish producer Satl steps out of his comfort zone and explores his Dub Techno infuences on his new Lucid Dreams EP: his sophomore release on Amsterdam boutique label The North Quarter.

Consisting of six brooding, but elegant tracks, “Lucid Dreams” is the work of an artist taking creative risks in order to grow and fnd his voice. Having made the move from Rotterdam to Gdańsk at the start of the year, Satl spent his lockdown delving into his love for Techno; looking to translate it into his Drum & Bass productions - with exceptional results.

"This EP to me is an exploration of a sound that I've loved for some time, but never really felt confdent enough to attempt. A more raw, techno-inspired, but still elegant and classy form of Drum and Bass," he explains. "I always strive to push myself forward, and I feel really good about this project. It's a step outside of my comfort zone. A project that I'm really proud of."
