Written during the last 12 months of lockdown, Most Violent Year is the debut album of Canadian producer NC-17. It’s our honour to bring you this incredible body of work from one of dnb’s most exciting talents.

Known by many for his usual style of upfront, high energy, dynamic productions, often influenced by his love of film – particularly grindhouse horror and classic film/exploitation cinema.

Setting out to take the listener on a more profound, darker journey through these influences, Most Violent Year sees NC-17 demonstrate his versatility as a producer. Guiding the listener through a range of styles that might take some by surprise as he makes the very most of the long-player format.

Whilst taking particular influence from the 60s/70s horror classics Rosemary’s Baby, Exorcist and The Omen, NC-17 pays homage to the sound of late 90s tech-step dnb. Featuring collaborations with Kumarachi, Dunk, Dauntless, Yatuza and Masheen, this 13 track monster is lurking in the shadows, ready to take you to the dark side.

Like all good horror movies, more dread is creeping not far behind. Watch this space for the sequel…

‘[No Return]’ is the brand-new album dropping from Forbidden Society, one of his biggest projects yet and proving that despite the restrictions of the last two years he’s repeatedly invested in his music. A label owner, producer, DJ and clothing brand creator, he’s demonstrated how he’s able to tap into a wide variety of markets - however it’s his music that’s enabled him to do this. Standing pride of place within his field and a pivotal part of the drum & bass and 140 scenes within Czechia, he continues to pull in crowds of thousands to witness his raucous sets. And ‘[No Return]’ follows in the footsteps of his recent collaboration with Audio on his ‘[Unsocial]’ LP through RAM Records, as well as his first release on Noisia’s VISION, whilst being another addition to his already impressive trophy cabinet. 
Alongside the dark, brooding moods of its title-track, through to the lumbering rhythms of ‘Sulpor’, Forbidden Society takes you down into the depths of his production with ‘[No Return]’. Tracks like ‘The Craft’ and ‘Disappointment’, ‘Overthinking’, ‘Mirrors’, ‘Dread’ and ‘Illusions’ keep the album’s drum & bass edge, meanwhile ‘Still Waters’ takes a softer approach as it rolls out. For the final five records Forbidden Society then switches down the tempo, with 140 selections like ‘Undark’ providing an even deeper introspection into the producer’s work. ‘Reflect’ creates a foreboding atmosphere before kicking you with its weighty subs whilst ‘Mondays’ and ‘Liar’ maintains the assault. Wrapping up with the dark trenches of ‘Sulpor’, which kicks through with subterranean levels, it’s an intimidating collection of tracks. Forbidden Society goes for the jugular and leaves no prisoners with this forthcoming release.  
April will see Forbidden Society once again add to his journey as he explores his sound. And for those lucky enough to witness his music, whether that’s in a festival or club setting, the new music provided by the DJ and producer will submerge them in a world he’s been building sonically for years. One which he’s only just beginning to reveal.

We're proud to present a completely unreleased album from long standing label favourite Survival. It features a volume of work we've never previously heard and some that we're deemed locked off in the vaults forever... Until now.

The album has been fully mixed down again and re-mastered in Nov 2014. None of the material on this USB album release has ever been made available on vinyl / digital or any other format anywhere else.

All USB's feature a folder of 16 bit WAV's and an additional folder of 320kbps MP3's which also includes a playlist file. All files have the USB artwork embedded into them.

To be suitably brash, PROX089 sees MVRK stepping up and stepping in with two of the hardest hitting track you are likely to hear in 2016, one outright body twister and one subtle but unforgiving. With support from, giants of the game, Noisia, both Pseudo and Shadow Walking on the flip emanate purity and filth.

Taking each as they come, Pseudo creates a sense of nervous energy from the outset; next to no rollout of the ambience before a change of direction with a hard hitting drum beat. When reaching the drop the sense of release of all the built energy is tantalisingly held back. We have the sounds of a beast straining for release, and MVRK expertly keep hold of the reins. This is one for a big rig and tearing up the dancefloor.

Second, but by no means second best, is Shadow Walking, and instead revels in its ambience, which goes on to  paint an aural mirage alongside hard-line bass stabs. The main body of the track is no different, a low end piece of aggression.

Forbidden Society has gone from being both a DJ and producer, to manufacturing a platform for his brand which stretches further than his base of Czech Republic. 

Society has never bowed down to commercial pressure and as a result, has amassed a formidable reputation and a fan base to match. His output through his self-titled imprint and clothing line has highlighted this and his sonic divesity. The prime example being his debut self-released LP ‘Fog Walk’. Moving itself away from the hardcore vigor of his usual work, it covered twelve brand new editions to his already intimidating catalogue of work. The ‘Dead Box’ EP followed in quick succession, also revealed on Forbidden Society and standing as another monumental part of 2019. Despite being firmly rooted within drum & bass, these two bodies of work spanned his inspirations across electro, techno and punk music, something which were mirrored through his ‘Subworld’ EP on Noisia’s Vision Recordings – also releasing there again with his Audio collaboration ‘Iris’.

In more recent times, he featured as part of Killbox’s album on RAM Records with ‘Transistor’. Also returning to Vision with solo EP ‘Subworld, as well as taking part in their ‘Mission Compilation, his reworks for its label heads Noisia on ‘Exodus’ and ‘Moving For You’ (ft. I Am Legion) built on his longstanding relationship with the trio. This has only helped to thrust him even further into the spotlight.
As well as his self-released ‘Liminal Point’ and ‘No Return’ LPs, he’s continued to set a standard, whilst exploring the likes of garage, techno and half time too. From Paris to Amsterdam, through to Columbia and Japan, Forbidden Society has brought his explosive presence to a global stage too.
