‘Static’ is the next release from Czech electronic music producer Forbidden Society, a figure known not only through his music but also his clothing line and record label. With wide ranging success from a career which has spanned over decades, his return is marked with a brand-new single which sees him dipping back into the genre he launched himself from. One which also marks the roots of his love for electronic sounds.
After branching out into the world of 140 with ‘Missing Pieces / Ritual’, which saw a host of support from the likes of tastemakers UKF, his follow up hits differently but with the same quality which Forbidden Society achieves through all the music he unleashes. Taking the listener deep into the brooding sonic sphere Forbidden Society has coined since exploring his work creatively, ‘Static’ is a sure-fire sub rattler, once again dropping on his own self-titled platform. It’s quaking bass-levels grab you following its first punching drop and with each shifting snare drum moving the track forward, you’re pulled along with its weight. Proving that despite his more minimalist approach he’s still here to smash dancefloors to pieces. 
‘Static’ shows that despite dipping his toes into unchartered waters with his last single, Forbidden Society is still here to capitalise on his drum & bass journey whilst diving into the murkier sounds. In so he again demonstrates his versatility, something which can also be seen through his business ventures and the Forbidden Society stamp which has infiltrated the dance music scene - through merchandise, artwork and more importantly, his music.

The rare and mysterious Chaco eagle of South America is on the brink of extinction - less than 1000 are believed to still live in the wild and they’ve likely already been wiped out in Uruguay. These giant birds of prey are shy, enigmatic creatures and even now relatively little is known about them. Populations have been on the decline for years because of forest loss and clashes with human activity. They’re often found electrocuted by pylons or drowned in water tanks, and face direct persecution due to claims that they attack livestock (spoiler alert: they don’t). Many end up shot or poisoned. For such a small population, even a handful of deaths a year can be devastating for the species’ survival. But on the flip side, saving even one eagle’s life makes a huge positive difference too. That is why we donate all money made from this release to the Friends of the Earth Germany (BUND) who take care of species like that (see https://www.bund.net/bund-in-english/).

Forbidden Society has gone from being both a DJ and producer, to manufacturing a platform for his brand which stretches further than his base of Czech Republic. 

Forbidden Society has never bowed down to commercial pressure and as a result, has amassed a formidable reputation and a fan base to match. His output through his self-titled imprint and clothing line has highlighted this and his sonic divesity. 
The prime example being his debut self-released LP ‘Fog Walk’. Moving itself away from the hardcore vigor of his usual work, it covered twelve brand new editions to his already intimidating catalogue of work. The ‘Dead Box’ EP followed in quick succession, also revealed on Forbidden Society and standing as another monumental part of 2019. 
Despite being firmly rooted within drum & bass, these two bodies of work spanned his inspirations across electro, techno and punk music, something which were mirrored through his ‘Subworld’ EP on Noisia’s Vision Recordings – also releasing there again with his Audio collaboration ‘Iris’.

In more recent times, he featured as part of Killbox’s album on RAM Records with ‘Transistor’. Also returning to Vision with solo EP ‘Subworld, as well as taking part in their ‘Mission Compilation, his reworks for its label heads Noisia on ‘Exodus’ and ‘Moving For You’ (ft. I Am Legion) built on his longstanding relationship with the trio. This has only helped to thrust him even further into the spotlight. 

As well as his self-released ‘Liminal Point’ and ‘No Return’ LPs, he’s continued to set a standard, whilst exploring the likes of garage, techno and half time too. From Paris to Amsterdam, through to Columbia and Japan, Forbidden Society has brought his explosive presence to a global stage too. Standing as the first Czech producer to be booked for the legendary Pirate Station in Russia, he’s still breaking the paradigms within his creative process and in doing so, has engineered a space which has ensured both his longevity and international success.
