A little while back when I first started this project, I wrote a batch of tunes in a pretty dark spot, put them up on Soundcloud, and didn't really expect much to happen. Those tunes ended up being some of my most played music, and unfortunately I never got around to releasing them for people to own. Fortunately, I have remastered the tracks and made those four tunes available to buy, alongside four brand new ones in a release entitled 'First Things First'.

↓↓↓ STORY TIME ↓↓↓

There had been reports all over the city; sightings of a hovering…thing. An object made of an unknowable substance, floating at head height. The reports had initially come in slowly with no apparent logic to their location, but more and more sightings were being called in in the past few days. Some grainy footage had begun to appear; a dark circle drifting in and out of focus. Was it a threat? It was definitely unprecedented, and there was a tension in the air as the GasPods struggled to process an unknown and uninvited entity in their midst. How do they react to something so far outside of their understanding? Maybe it was some kind of a mass hallucination; maybe their ecosystem of industrial decay was taking its toll. The videos suggested otherwise, but for now they would just have to hope it didn’t transition from intruder to invader, and do their best to carry on life as normal…

In celebration of our new album 'My Heart is Love' being released today on Gravitas Recordings, we've featured a track for either stream or download.

'A Noble Truth' was written in a few days, and based on the inspiration of
the buddhist teachings 'The Four Noble Truths', which is the central
doctrine. The track both reflects and embodies the idea of utilizing the act
of creation to transcend 'dukkha' (suffering) and achieve a state of connected-ness . 

As you listen to it, you'll hear that it starts off much more frantic and aggressive, sort of representing dissatisfaction - but then it evolves into a meditative state, evoking a sense of serenity that is simultaneously comforting and lonely.  Then, again, it shifts, and the cycle continues.  

This is more about the process of fluctuating duality than some tale of enlightenment. :)

Both emotionally stirring and provocative, "My Heart Is Love" is the second LP from East-Coast collaborative brainchild Aligning Minds. The nine track album, due for release January 29th via Gravitas Recordings, is a finely tuned venture evoking imagery of an ethereal future-city. While no two tracks sound the same, Aligning Minds does a beautiful job stitching together this sundry collection of songs seamlessly and in an engaging way. Perfectly blended sections of classic electro and intricate breaks merge with vaporous psychedelic synth-scapes, causing genre lines to blur as the countless influences wash through.

Although the album starts off moody with the ambient "Streaming Live", things quickly shift gears when "Ether Perfect" ushers in a heavy dose of modulating sub. Meticulous sound design marks the melancholy title track, but the tension repeatedly resolves with each new tier the piece traverses. "A Noble Truth" and "In The Wake of Forever" both opt for more of a hip hop pace, trading agile shuffles for an abiding percussive stroke. The textured saw-waves that make up the bassline in "Bright Flames" add to an overall nebulous vibe, later cemented with haunting, stuttering strings. "Weeping Willow" alters the progression near the close with a bold 2-step beat, accentuated by a multiplex of blips and clicks.
