Light, silvery, yet it fills—and stills—a room, Charlz’ dusky voice comes from a place of deep honesty. In her latest single, ‘Colors’, it takes a leading role. Full of quiet intensity, the song breathes with emotion, a delicate dance of harmonies in which Charlz’ captivating vocals are both principal and corps.

The second release on new Australian imprint Risqué, ‘Colors’ was born from collaboration with ARIA Award-winning producer M-Phazes, best known for his work with Amy Shark, Alison Wonderland and Eminem. “I was paired up with Mark at a songwriting workshop in Melbourne, early on in his career. We spent all day in the Abbotsford Convent, drinking wine and making music.” 

Having returned to her hometown of Melbourne in late 2017 with a freshly signed publishing deal with Kobalt Music, Charlz had spent time in LA working with an international list of collaborators as intriguing as it is impressive. From Deadmau5 protégé ATTLAS, to UK phenom Maths Time Joy and Grammy Award winner Latroit, Charlz’s quiet aura and creative magnetism allowed her to connect with some of electronic music’s most elusive producers.

At the end of last year Charlz debuted her single ‘Feather’ to a 5000-strong Festival Hall crowd in Melbourne, opening for US RNB superstar Khalid. Now armed with a collection of subtle, arty pop hits ready for release, the world is about to see what Charlz is really about. Brighton, UK collective LOYAL veers gently away from digital-heavy production in their new Fleetwood Mac inspired single "Patterns That Fall," out today. Exchanging more standard house structures for organic instrumentation, they've added a coziness to their sound while maintaining classic LOYAL tropes like funky bass-lines and hazy, enchanting vocals. The result of their deftly layered production is cross-genre appeal that has earned them comparisons to The xx, James Blake, and Rhye.

Headed up by James Day, Laurence Allen, and Alex Cowan, LOYAL first started expanding their line up with "House For You," teaming up with local Brighton artist Beth Molly Moore, a successful experiment that eventually led into the current seven-piece.​​​​​​​ "Patterns That Fall" is the second single from LOYAL's forthcoming EP (out December 7th). It follows "Everything (She)," A disco-house / pop-funk hybrid that glimmers with fresh energy and a hint of nostalgia. The decidedly chill and more ambient "Patterns That Fall" sees LOYAL stretching beyond their usually territory, opening up possibilities for the group in the future. "We can chop and change every time we write a song, which is really exciting for us," Laurence told Billboard in an interview. The track came to fruition one reflective Monday morning. "The lyrics and music came to us incredibly naturally. Almost like a stream of consciousness from both sides. The song represents us as human beings falling through our limited time here; The binary code happening behind our endless social media scrolling, even the rain as it falls. In that reflective Monday morning mood it felt as though everything in life was a mere pattern falling with little direction or rule. The comfort is to know we are all experiencing the exact same thing - and embracing that is all we can do."

LOYAL sprang to life in 2016 with their critically lauded debut single "Blue & The Green," which led to band members James Day, Laurence Allen, and Alex Cowan quickly becoming BBC Radio 1 darlings. Released via London label GOOD YEARS - the folks behind BANKS, Lil Silva, and Yellow Days - LOYAL found themselves in good company when it comes to artists on the edge of what's next.

Fade into a dream state with Cyrano's new single "Afterburns" - Out October 12th 

In the digital age there aren’t many artists brave enough to release a 6-minute single, let alone two versions at the same time. For Cyrano, the process of writing his meditative and dreamy new single ‘Afterburns’ became a kind of therapy, as he pens the thoughts not shared and the words not said in his breakup.

“To me, the Afterburns of a relationship is when the coals are on the fire, and you’re wondering whether to give it another stoke for a flame. If you spend too much time thinking, it’ll just fade away” shares Cyrano.

On Afterburns, the Edinburgh based producer and multi-instrumentalist cycles between short, assertive lines and longer, more delicate phrases to lament the indecision in his relationship.

“I wanted Afterburns to personify my feelings, from the lyrics and melodies to its length and flow. The whole track is one big thought, and the most idiosyncratic song of my music for the late night overthinkers.”

Alongside the release, Cyrano has created a 12-question personality test for listeners to identify if they are introverted or extroverted. Depending on their answers, they will be diverted to the Introverted or Extroverted mix of the track.

“When I was living in Singapore, I was reading a book by Susan Cain called ‘Quiet’ about introversion and extroversion. At the same time, I was listening over the various mixes I’d been sent of Afterburns and I started to feel these qualities within two of the mixes. One felt like the type of song you’d want to sing along to in a festival crowd while the other felt like one for your earphones, and a moment for yourself.”

Produced by Foals’ percussionist Kit Monteith, Afterburns marks the third instalment from Cyrano’s upcoming debut EP, Consolations. The single follows on from his recent afterparty anthems Collateral and Tundra, which saw the Scottish producer achieve a second consecutive Hype Machine Number 1 and named The Scotland on Sunday’s Artist of the Week.

Cyrano will round off his year by joining Leif Erikson on a UK tour, as he looks to hit the ground running in 2022.
