With all our focus on the Dubai and Middle Eastern psytrance scene, budding and growing a unique forest of psychedelic sounds in the desert, we’re talking with Shine Trailoka about Hypnotique Recordings, their new compilation album and upcoming projects with a very special mix following the talk.

Trailoka is Shine Rappai from India, currently residing in Dubai. Trained at a tender age in Indian classical music, falling in love with the magic of Goa Trance was only a natural step in Shine's musical evolution. Soon after, he began organizing small psytrance parties in Dubai and making his mark as a DJ.

As one of the pioneers of the psytrance music circuit in the Middle East, Shine co-founded Freakuencies and Hypnotique…two prominent audio production houses that deeply influenced the rise of the psytrance culture in the region.After joining Rudraksh records in 2007, Shine also went on to represent Omveda Records in 2008 as an official label DJ.He has played besides numerous leading artists in the scene at parties and festivals in the Middle east ,Asia and Europe.

Trailoka plays the entire bracket of sub-genres of psytrance ranging from intense, atmospheric night music, to beautiful, progressive chillout and downtempo grooves for the morning. His deep understanding of sounds and the emotions they carry enables him to craft beautiful journeys through his live and DJ sets .

Sabaidee, the Thai word for happiness and feeling good, is John Lee's second compilation of global psychedelia for Purple Hexagon Records. The release continues the journey started with Sawasdee, John's first VA for the label in 2019, bringing together another deep and varied selection of cutting-edge forest and twilight sounds. Gail is an old and wicked Ent that lives in the nearby forest. Besides his extraordinary personality, he is also well known for his exquisite taste in all the weirdest and twisted styles of music that can be found back in these woods. He pays regular visits to the many different caves and groves where the best of the forest musicians gather to 'cook their stuff' and so he has all the fresh and most tasty tunes around. It is a well known secret in the forest, that Gail has a special trail that goes through all these musicians' places from where he picks the tunes, and that its the only place where a creature can have an ear on them, for Gail always plays some along the way! Shhhh! The Forestdelic crew knows the whereabouts of this trail, and this time they are inviting you to have some time with Gail on his quest for a decent forestdelia. They have marked some special spots on this trail where the most wicked of his tunes are to be heard, so if you're up for some really nasty blasting, then hurry with that brew and join the crew - 'cos the forest never sounded better!
