Stepping a bit outside the boundaries of black metal, FPR has opened up a bit and was compelled by the dark nature of this unknown band from Italy called "MOURNING MIST".   Fronted by a violin player, namely Ecnerual,  the band has a very avantgarde nature about it while still being nicely arranged with darker atmospheres. Lyrically dripping with misanthropic topics on mankind and its existence. I think that those of us who enjoy black metal but are also into the darker side of music in general would find MOURNING MIST to their liking. To point out the best qualities of the band, lets start with the 
production, it has a nice old feeling to it, and everything is very comprehensible in the mix second, there are no problems maintaining your interest with plenty of quality musicianship and writing of the dark nature, thirdly, the musical output is not limited to any one style, there are remnants of aplenty
going on, from doom to fast, mid paced to atmospheric so on and so forth; in other words there is plenty to keep you interest within this realm of sorrow and decay.  Kvasir plays bass for MOURNING MIST and is better known for his bands Profezia & Abhor.

Six tracks of extremely intense, well crafted, direct and aggressive Black Metal not unlike the greats such as Katharsis and Funeral Mist, but yet maintaining it’s own identity. I’m not a big fan of comparing bands and name dropping other acts, but seeing how this is a brand new band and release, I figured it couldn’t hurt to name two obvious inspirations to catch people’s attention out there. Combining their life-long fascination with 80s industrial acts such as GGFH and Skinny Puppy with modern subgenres such as witch house, horrorcore, while remaining deeply rooted in the black metal movement of the last millennium, they are again exploring new sonic extremes. ‘The Reptilian Side of God’ is a relentless and dystopian tour de force, demonstrating a total lack of respect for stylistic boundaries and conventions. It is a musical aberration, a freak project, if you will – cold and bleak – with powerful, pulsating basses, devastating drums and harsh synth leads, supplemented by the intense vocal performance of Urfaust’s IX – ushering the listener into uncharted and hitherto unknown territories.
