Technology has allowed us to do incredible things with music. If you listen to my music (which you probably do, if you've found this), you know I like to take advantage of these advancements as much as the next guy. 

But let's not forget that, at the core of any profoundly polished amalgamation of sound design techniques, beneath all the layers of synths and samples, there's gotta be something real. There's gotta be music.

This morning, I picked up my worn-in Martin acoustic, with her old, fraying strings and and the wear-and-tear that only comes from putting in the grunt work, from playing hundreds of gigs where often nobody was listening. Today I stuck a mic on the Martin and spent the morning recording.

I didn't warp the audio onto a grid. I didn't time-stretch anything. I didn't scrub out the fret buzz, the botched notes, and the sniffles (it's getting cold in Florida).

You guys have waited a while since my last release. I promise it's worth it. Pinky promise. And you know what? A big part of why it's taking so long is because I'm totally guilty of obsessing over all this new technology and maybe even abusing it. But it's worth it. There's a ton of exciting, creative new material. You'll have it soon!

Until then, I hope that this honest, organic piece of music holds you over.

We’re so excited to start in December the short series of five  mixes from our good friends who’ve been already presented in our Revelation Sessions. This series is brought to our community in celebration of our two year anniversary of our channel.

Today we present the story from Chrystal Chris. Chrystal has always been an enthusiastic 'groupie' of DJs who are connecting people with soul-shivering sounds. Her own DJ story began when friends encouraged her to realize her dreams. With her sets and performances she has found a medium to express her deepest feelings and share them with others. She loves to tell musical stories of cosmic adventures in which you will be floating on spherical sound waves driven by deep bass engines. If you know her personally, you will know all about her love for Max Cooper’s sound. She has been influenced a lot by the complexity and interdisciplinary of his creations. Chrystal Chris has already performed in various countries all over the world. She has now found her base in Berlin where she is discovering a huge and diverse music community.Her collective Kybele as well as her duo project Saphear with violinist Sawatzki motivate her to fulfill her destiny.
