"1point5 is back for his first solo EP on In:flux Audio since 'Perception' back in January 2015. He has been pottering around the label plenty since then though, with plenty of remixes and of course, his collab EP last November with founders Tik&Borrow. This time round we showcase three tracks from the producer, all of which showcase his evolution into firmer Dubstep territory, whilst retaining that signature 2-step 1point5 sound that we know and love.

On remixes, it's a selection of label loves who are returning the favour to 1point5 after he provided superb remixes on their EPs. Ali McK & IYZ are up first, with their reworking of 'Backspace' - a more twinkly affair with a superb reworking of the lead section into something more dark and brooding, whilst still retaining the duos ear for a banger. Fork and Knife closes out the EP with his UK Garage take on the lead track 'Solar Signal', all percussion, wubs and vibes - the perfect exit to a stunning EP."

Another smooth, jazzy number. The classic UKG beat, ‘Crazy’ by Higgo, comes like dripping honey in the club: a euphoric sweet melody alongside a shaking, vibrating basis of drums underneath. Absolute dance-floor weapon to say the least.

What a run of form we are witnessing from the legendary Four40 imprint at the minute as they continue to unleash a tonne of high-quality UKG projects one after the other. They here employ the fantastic production abilities of On1, who gets super busy on the groovy rolls and exciting rhythmic twists of 'Slinky', a stripped back belter that uses choppy bass tones and subtle melodies to induce some serious undercover winds. On remix duty, Fork & Knife is on hand to give this one hell of a grimey twissup, reformatting the subtle sub tones for distorted, reesey leads. Excellent stuff indeed.

When Fork and Knife found an audio of someone hitting pebbles together, put it into a sampler and played around with the pitch, it created a kind of counter melody and rhythm with it that he didn’t want to let go.

An idea that was born in the beginning of lockdown has finally reached fruition. ‘Pebbledash’ is Fork and Knife’s upcoming percussion driven track with a UK funky kind of vibe. 

Predominantly populated with synths and basses that are sine and square waves, Pebbledash also has a detuned sine reese bass in there with undertones of jungle. The melody after the drop has a detuned square playing, as a nod to grime.

Staying true to his sound design pallets, Fork and Knife has garnished the tune with live drum kit samples alongside the electronic hits to give it a bit more of a 'human' feel to it. 

“ Pebbledash' is my homage to all the different styles of UK underground music that I like, sitting somewhere between funky, bass and grime. With hard hitting low-end and percussion galore, I think it's a perfect example of my signature sound, complete with samples of pebbles and dogs."

Bristol based Fork and Knife has covered a lot of ground musically. Focussing on Grime and Garage whilst exploring a multitude of other genres and bpms, he has carved a sound that pays homage to the heavy music that shaped his tastes as well as the underground club scenes he is now a part of. 

With support from BBC Radio 1, 1xtra, Rinse, Reprezent and NTS and being named ‘One to Watch’ by the Guardian, he’s garnered a fair bit of attention in the ‘bass music’ circle. With several releases on big labels such as 1Forty, Influx and Strictly Flava, along with collaborating with big MCs like Killa P and SBK, Fork and Knife has cemented himself in the UK scene as a talented, multi-faceted producer.
