The Mechanism

For fun I made a new track using the amazing funky and catchy melody from Can't Stop Playing (2005) by Dr Kucho! & Gregor Salto and played it in my sets. It got such great responses and Spinnin' Records also loved it! Later I finished it with @GregorSalto himself and now it will be released 29th of august on @SpinninRecords :)

The fourth law of Metaphysix is titled Cause & Effect, which refers to a universal law that states “there is no chance“—in other words, the universe is all connected through causation. In this series, we look at the relationship between artists and their influences of each other and the label.  We invited our close friends to take part of this compilation. 

This is the Ultramajic Cause & Effect: Six club producers from around the world translating similar musical ideas through cultural barriers. Label boss Jimmy Edgar finds a common ground with Detroit talent, Crystal Bandito, and Chicago’s legendary Traxman in rigid acid drum workouts & TB-303 drenched in vinyl dust. The mysterious name on the track list, on the other hand—Ecrylic—is none other than the artist formerly known as P.O.L. Style.  Last but not least, newcomer Phil Kieran tops of the release with his loudest track “Beat Flow”

Santa Barbara native Adrian Gutierrez aka Cabrillo is the newest addition to the LAMP family with his debut EP ‘Beat Vibrated’. The name says it all. This two track release is injected with grooving drum lines, bouncing piano chords and the bass where it’s need most, front and center.

‘Beat Vibrated’ as the title track and opener to the collection kicks things off full of energy with crisp drums and a grooving piano line that dances its way in and out of the composition setting up a pulsating bass line. Panning percussion groups and a pitch bending vocal sample round of the arrangement giving this track all the characteristics and ingredients of pure classic house jam.

‘It’s Alright’ carries through Cabrillo’s knack for creating head-nodding drum patterns and enticing bass layers. Influences of disco and classic house immediately become apparent as the those familiar string synths and electro guitar riffs permeate their way through the arrangement. This nod to the old school is measured well with an injection of rising bass notes and raspy jackin’ style claps, snares and hats.
