Shadow Child lands his sparkling new single Friday featuring the stunning vocals of the fast rising Takura.

UK producer and DJ, Shadow Child has had a momentous 16 months, from releasing his 23 EP on own nascent Food Music imprint, the mighty So High via Moda Black to the landmark String Thing via Dirtybird.

Alongside these tracks there’s been some outstanding Shadow Child remixes for artists such as Hot Natured – Reverse Skydiving, Sub Focus – Tidal Wave, Drumsound & Bassline Smith – Through The Night, Alix Perez – Annie’s Song, Lianne La Havas – Elusive and forthcoming London Grammar – Strong.

Singer / songwriter Takura is no stranger to UK ears having collaborated with massive names such as Chase & Status, Rhianna, Plan B, Sub Focus, Example, Jack Beats and Kano. On Friday Takura delivers a huge feel-good, crossover chorus hook that complements Shadow Child’s on point, driving, deep house beats perfectly.

With Shadow Child’s and label-partner Kry Wolf, their Food Music label has grown organically as a route to release for own material and like-minded production souls. This year has so far seen critically acclaimed releases from artists Kry Wolf, Hannah Wants & Chris Lorenzo, Makes No Sense to the soon coming Motez, with a stack of exciting new artists & tracks lined up for the next 12 months.

Friday will be the lead track from the forthcoming Shadow Child Collected album, released simultaneously also via NewState Music / Food Music that chronicles the productions, remixes and collaborations of Shadow Child so far and features further exclusive new Shadow Child singles alongside unreleased remixes.

There’s a new kid on the block in the Netherlands, and he isn’t making progressive house tracks for Spinnin’. On the contrary, @wouter-es has making some of the chunkiest sounds in house music and has recently been called upon by legends like Shadow Child and Bicep to throw down mixes for their respective radio shows. 

The Dutch upstart can now add another cosign from the likes of Waze & Odyssey to his ever-expanding list of accomplishments. He’s offered up a pounding track called “808 Dubz” for an upcoming compilation on their W+O Street Tracks imprint, rounding out the four-track package that also includes a knocking submission from dirtybird’s Ardalan. Darius’ sets have always had a Balearic edge, often playing  heavy techno alongside really low slung deeper tracks. But no matter what, all his sets have the main emphasis focussing on the groove, these themes are very obvious throughout Gangstercast 70.

Every once in a while an artist comes along who reminds you why you fell in love with music in the first place. When a singer can tap into that passion and effectively translate it into his music, it transcends time, genres, and cultures, making for true artistry. East Coast singer/songwriter Lee Wilson has such a passion. and his debut Dopewax single, presented by four-time Grammy Award nominee Kenny Dope, "Turn You Up" is a prime example. It's the lead single from Lee's highly anticipated album project which promises to quench one's thirst for quality. ZHUT & KAPOTE are part of that new wave of Berlin producer kids that are doing dirty, funk-based house music. Max Graef, Session Victim, Hodini... There is a growing scene of producers that do dance music that is far away from that 90ies techno revival sound that has become kind of a Berlin tourist cliche. These new kids love old jazz vinyl, MPC-productions and old synths. They want a warm, nasty sound that has it's roots in soul music - not in Ableton Live standard Deep House sound setups.

Kapote already released an EP and some edits on Toy Tonics, while Zhut is part of tech-funk group Black Loops. The boys combine old, rare samples from the 1970ies with their own way of playing live drum machines and their fucked up synthesizers. It's jazzy, funky house music. Reminding certain records from the french wave like La Funk Mob or Versatile and the music of American maestros like Paul Johnson or Detroit's Red Planet.
