'Noone St. Encounter' and all associated works were created, produced and compiled on unceded Aboriginal land. General Merchant acknowledges that it operates on stolen land, belonging to the Gadigal and Wangal people of the Eora Nation, and we pay our respects to Aboriginal elders past, present and emerging.

‘Noone St. Encounter’ sonically depicts ex-terrestrial-isms that stem from an obsession of other worldly life forms. Rxex utilises modular synthesis to create atmospheres that are both biologically familiar and alien to the human ear. Probing beyond the outer orbits of the sound-solar system, Rxex incorporates psy-fi fantasy bass-abductionism to create a unique and varied sound that is informed by a distinctive modular synthesis. 

The release features an excellent remix by Naarm based Homelander that operates as a more functional dancefloor track to round out the EP.

DESCRIPTION

 "I remember making this during some freezing days between Christmas and New Year's. The main groove that started the whole track was initially generated by those little red lights that you normally put on your bike. I placed the lamp in front of a light sensor, which transforms the light into sound pulses. The lamp had a sequence of flashes that the sensor detected and the result was the main beat. I also remember experimenting with various AI tools to generate sound material, which I used as a starting point to modulate it."

“Tropism” is the unseen force that guides movement which is the instinctual pull toward something greater. It governs how plants stretch toward light, how bodies sway to rhythm, and how thoughts drift in response to invisible stimuli. This EP attempts to capture those motions, translating them into sound: gradual shifts, unconscious reactions, and the tension between control and inevitability.
