Ghanaian group Honny & The Bee’s Band recorded ‘Psychedelic Woman’ for a release on Essiebons in 1973. Little is known about the group.

‘Psychedelic Woman’ is, as you would expect from the name, a psychedelic mid tempo groover. Punctuated with a hypnotic guitar line, percussion and a catchy sung chorus.

Gyedu-Blay Ambolley & The Steneboofs - Simigwado

Breaks and grooves, underpin this upbeat call-and-response JB-esque afro-funk gem, from Ghanaian legend Gyedu-Blay Ambolley and his group The Steneboofs.

Originally released on a Capeside 45 in 1973. Ambolley released the highly sought afer ‘Simigwa’ LP on Essiebons in the same year.

Recorded in Istanbul in July 2015 with a number of local visionary musicians, Débruit presents a synthetic and  rhythmic journey inside  the  city's  history  and future.  'Débruit  &  Istanbul',  his fourth  album,  is  set for release through his own multidisciplinary label ICI on 27th May 2016. 

During his 15 days in Istanbul, Débruit worked on an imaginative interpretation of the city carried by the megalopolis through its meanders. He collaborated with established artists, including leading fusion-jazz percussionist  Okay  Temiz,  70s  Turkish-funk  star  Mustapha  Özkent,  gypsy  master  clarinettist  Cüneyt Sepetçi, and rising and grass roots local musicians such as art-rock singer Gaye Su Akyol, Melike Şahin and Murat Ertel of BaBa ZuLa. 
The inspiration of sounds, rhythms, lights and tempo of the city at different moments  in  time  have  resulted  in  a  melting  pot  of  traditional, visionary,  electric,  psychedelic,  futuristic, melodic and experimental music. Now set for release to the public, 'Débruit & Istanbul' is a new vision of the exciting and captivating city.   

"I  wanted  this  album  to  be  driven  by  the  feelings  I  got from  Istanbul  and  my  encounters.  The  city’s enthusiasm and majestic urban and topographic flows inspired light but deep moods: there is a darkness in there but a proud one. A roughness in control. Istanbul has such an inspiring mix of tradition and forward thinking vision. It has a pulse of its very own. Its impossible to put into words the excitement, surprises and magic of making this album. Of the experiences of trying to find these people, walking up unknown streets or taking the boat to the Asian side. Discovering the city at the same time as being on the album journey, going to neighbourhoods I wouldn't have been to if it wasn't for recording. A cosmic, phased-out percussion adventure by Shimshon Miel, a lone-wolf hippie from Tel-Aviv who experimented with hallucinogenic psych-folk, and self-released his only album in 1977. Fortuna Records reissues two of the album's killer cuts for the very first time, alongside a late-night club edit by Kalbata. Expect extra trippy percussion soundscapes layered on top of a thumping bass guitar in wild 70's style stereo action. Kalbata's remix is a straight up voodoo ritual, adding much needed 808 subs to the jacked-up original.

ARIWO - Pyramid  [Album Edit]

Between 2006 and 2008 i (Tonic) made a few edits on a label called 'Mindless Boogie' under a few different names (Tonic, Skinny Joey, Rubber Room). The label was vinyl only, so the tracks are pretty hard to find by now. It's a shame to let them go to waste, so here they are... Go and multiply!
