In the past decade, Bayport's Kyle and Megan Gallagher have both been involved in numerous musical endeavors. 

Entering into his musical journey as a drummer for the band New World Hippies at the age of 15, Kyle has since supported and/or written/recorded music with multiple rock bands (most notably Bear Success), jazz bands, and other acts. He has proven himself a versatile instrumentalist, playing everything from drum set/percussion, piano/keys, and electric/acoustic guitar to singing/beatboxing as a member of Hofstra's collegiate mixed a'capella group The Hofbeats. 

Megan is currently studying vocal performance at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey. She has lent her voice to a broad spectrum of genres, including music theatre, classical music, touring choir ensembles, and acoustic acts, among others.

The two musicians had made a tradition of performing covers together at their high school's seasonal open mic nights in years past. It was then that they discovered the musical chemistry that existed between them. They would continue seeking out intimate venues to perform together as time would go on. 

Becoming increasingly infatuated with the mellow acoustic rock stylings of artists such as Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), Mike Kinsella (Owen), and Angus and Julia Stone during his freshman year at Hofstra University, Kyle began writing acoustic songs under the monicker The Vernal Solstice. Originally intended to be a solo recording project, TVS' first few songs would feature vocals from Megan. 

As of June 2015, Megan assumed lead vocal responsibilities for the act, while Kyle continued to carry out the duties of songwriting/instrumental performance, sparsely lending vocals to tracks.
