The third release of Whoopee Rec marks the debut on the label of FloorForce, one of the many monikers of the talented Portuguese producer Hugo Vinagre. As the name of the EP clearly states, the three tracks are ready to hit the dancefloor with a solid and deep groove, and it will be impossible to stay put. A must for any club DJ.

In recent years, Dzc. has emerged as a highly sought-after DJ, leaving her mark in Austria with performances at numerous venues. As a key member of the Acid Lambada crew, she has been featured in well-established curated festivals and events, both locally and internationally.

Her productions mirror her passion for synth-driven dance music, characterized by dreamy pads and playful melodies. No stranger to Fortunea Records, having already been featured in two editions of the Fortunea Cookies VA-Series, she is set to present her first 4-track EP in February.

The 'Conversations with Birds' EP is a meticulously balanced collection of tracks designed for each phase of a club night.

Drawing inspiration from elements of 90s House and progressive sounds, 'Visual Mind' and 'In Sight' are dreamlike journeys with lively synth melodies, joyful basslines, and captivating pads and textures. The latter has also been reworked by Fortunea regular Peletronic, infusing crisp minimalistic rhythms into his 'Blurred Vision' Mix.

The standout piece of the EP is the title track on the B-side, a beautiful composition that elicits uplifting moments and feelings of euphoria.
It features emotive chords, airy strings, and soothing sustained tones that enhance the powerful groove.

The record promises to immerse listeners in an engaging journey that captures Dzc.'s distinctive vision.

'Conversations with Birds' will be digitally released on February 23, followed shortly by a limited vinyl edition.

Ah, Byron, Byron, Byron—what can we say? We're absolutely enamoured with this guy's music. And, we couldn't be more thrilled to welcome him into our family on Low Recordings.

We are back with our second vinyl release, featuring Byron's "Love 4 Music." This 4-track EP is a celebration of love, with Side A and Side B showcasing two distinct styles where Byron truly shines. Side A delivers the club hits, while Side B envelops us in a soulful/R&B/deep house vibe.

Kicking off Side A is "Creepin' With U." The track begins with haunting chords that exude an eerie and raw vibe, swiftly leading into a thumping, club-certified kick drum. As the song progresses, a hint of nostalgia from the lo-fi days creeps in, complemented by vocal samples that add to the eerie atmosphere. Yes, it's eerie, but it's also robust and captivating—perfect for enticing bodies to move on a warehouse dance floor.

Next up is "Work That Girl (Tribal Mix)," the heavyweight of the four, tailor-made for the club/warehouse scene. The track starts with the clicking and clacking of hats and snares, Byron's vocals weaving in and out of the mix. The lyrics are crafted for a sweaty night of dancing, and as the kicks thump in, the energy rises. Byron's trademark chords seamlessly ooze into the mix, uniting our bodies with the song. Acid-sounding notes eventually lead us in and out of the groove—a solid club anthem.

Flipping over to Side B, we're greeted by "Inner Visions," where Byron slows things down and takes us in a different direction. A classic synth line initiates the track with a smooth kick, creating an airy vibe that melds perfectly with its melody. As the song grooves, Byron's soulful vocals pierce through, infusing warmth into his words. The warmth persists as the song progresses, with his voice echoing slightly more dissonance, leaving us with a proper vision for the closing track.

Closing out the EP, Byron guides us with a vision for a fun night in "Make Me Feel." Deep with a touch of R&B, the song exudes warmth and is all about feeling good with the person who got you through the night. Byron's sultry voice sits perfectly on the track as the basslines guide us through. His playful nature keeps things light and fun, rounding off the EP on a high note.

Manakinz are Scottish duo James ‘Harri’ Harrigan and Max Raskin. One part synonymous with the monumental Sub Club and his Subculture residency going strong for 30 years, and one of Glasgow’s best kept secrets, Max Raskin, formerly of the Liquid Lounge and Sunday Circus.

Initially Harri & Max were just sending out tracks to friends in the know, but when Andrew Weatherall picked up the blower to say he was loving what they were doing, they upped the ante and have since been putting out on Let’s Play House, Future Boogie, Monologues, Refuge and Mitchell Street. There are plenty more projects to come in ’24 with Jasper James (Harri’s son) and for Ashley Beedle’s North Street. Watch this space.

For their second release on Model Citizenz – the imprint created to house their vast dungeon of music created from endless hours tinkering and foot tapping - Manakinz come again with WHIM! The seven cuts on this maxi EP represent their take on a dystopian future, where the dark overlord ‘His Lordship Whim’ bends the world to his unique desires. Frantic Formula is a timeless moment of melodic techno created by Falko Brocksieper originally released on Treibstoff Recordings. A track so pure and perfect that it deserves to be re-mastered and re-presented for the next generation, which is precisely what 20/20 Vision has done.  The story only begins with Frantic Formula as connecting with Falko leads to unearthing a treasure trove of productions including unreleased gems and tracks that had never been pressed on vinyl – one of which Covert Action sits proudly on the flip side. The record is completed with Outrun which sounds as fresh and current today as it did when recorded back in 2006. 

Frantic Formula is a rare piece of electronic music perfection, one of those tracks where you can’t imagine changing a single element as intricate synth sequences support a haunting main hook that stays with you long after the record has run out. It stands right up there alongside classic productions such as Isolee – Allowance or Loco Dice – Seeing Through Shadows. 

Outrun features a sound system shaking bottom-end bass wobble that rattles the bones and moves the feet. Covert Action is a DJ’s dream mix track with heavily grooved filtered toms that would make Chicago proud running consistently around a heavily affected cowbell punctuated by trippy drops for the floor.
