This had never been part of the plan – not like this, not at such scale. The night was dark and cold all around them as they wandered through the forest in search of a way out. Who knew the woods went so deep and beyond what they might ever had imagined? Such expansion was unprecedented, dense thick greenery everywhere which swallowed the light.

Soon the night would come, heaven forbid they were still wandering, looking for a way out.

In the distance they could hear the noise of the city, yet they were on the outskirts, lost in the trees.

Stevie Cox is set to release a new EP via Optimo’s digital label, the Glasgow based Sub Club resident has become highly regarded in the booth and now turns focus towards the studio with a killer EP based on progressive, cosmic sounds destined to uplift on the dancefloor.

Our 20th celebration year continues with a very special comeback! It’s exactly ten years now since the last Ben La Desh release on our label, his sublime “Stellar Talk EP” hit big waves and together with the “Midnight Rendez-Vous EP” from 2012 he cemented himself in the lo-fi deep space house scene as an artist to look out for, no one produced deep house like he did back then. After a longer break from releasing music he is back and we think stronger as ever, with analogue gear and well curated sampling and live field recording we present you his “Fine Rise EP”.

The opener “Heel Goed” is an amazing track with that distinctive 909 beat and DX bass driven “La Desh” flavour and a truly wonderful vocal sample from a 90s TV commercial, hilariously funny and brilliant at the same time! We can’t wait to see the faces of people, especially on the Dutch dancefloors, when they try to figure out and discover what the ladies are talking about! Second A side track is the super funky “Lift Adrift” that flanges itself to outer space, etherical with chopped break beats and various percussive and rhythmic Pearl Syncussion layers running through effect pedals, Lift Adrift!

On the other side we start out with the deep title track “Fine Rise”. Here Ben treats us again to his trademark spaced out effects driven sound and on top a killer bass line and synth lead melody, reminiscent of the golden age of (good) trance music. Followed by the break beat gem that is “Asanti”, cautiously cut up breaks and layered machine drums with bubbly Syncussion sounds, rain drops falling down on different surfaces recorded in a garden in the French Drôme and processed African Kalimba. Did we already say Etherical? It is!

Closing out this great new record is the ambient piece “Expanding Signal”, an analogue tune that consists of field recordings and deep dubby chords, a building Juno pulse, swooshes and again a profound DX bassline, think of “Sun Electric” or “The Orb”.

Enjoy this one and play it loud on the dance floors or silently in your bedroom, it works everywhere as far as we are concerned!

San Francisco-based producer @federsen inaugurates his @altdub imprint with an exquisite EP consisting of four deep and hazy dub techno tracks from himself and Cologne-based production duo Hidden Sequence.

Pressed on heavyweight blue marble vinyl, listeners can rest assured that the quality of wax is on par with the music. Our pick from the release is Federsen's solo track 'Polarity', which could easily sit alongside the likes of Basic Channel, Maurizio or even Deepchord. This is a potent debut EP from two producers that have invested countless hours in order to master this sound.

Tilman presents a juicy nu-groove track that transports you back to May 1st, 1992. Making his wax debut, Julius Renner offers a soulful voyage to the peak of the dance floor. Toomy Disco, a newcomer on Inex aswell, delivers a shuffling and groovy bomb, pondering the future of DJs. Ron Brown collaborates on a deep, almost Latin-spiced organ track with moments of melancholy and hope. Lastly, Meeshoo touches our souls with strings and disco excellence.

Frantic Formula is a timeless moment of melodic techno created by Falko Brocksieper originally released on Treibstoff Recordings. A track so pure and perfect that it deserves to be re-mastered and re-presented for the next generation, which is precisely what 20/20 Vision has done.  The story only begins with Frantic Formula as connecting with Falko leads to unearthing a treasure trove of productions including unreleased gems and tracks that had never been pressed on vinyl – one of which Covert Action sits proudly on the flip side. The record is completed with Outrun which sounds as fresh and current today as it did when recorded back in 2006. 

Frantic Formula is a rare piece of electronic music perfection, one of those tracks where you can’t imagine changing a single element as intricate synth sequences support a haunting main hook that stays with you long after the record has run out. It stands right up there alongside classic productions such as Isolee – Allowance or Loco Dice – Seeing Through Shadows. 

Outrun features a sound system shaking bottom-end bass wobble that rattles the bones and moves the feet. Covert Action is a DJ’s dream mix track with heavily grooved filtered toms that would make Chicago proud running consistently around a heavily affected cowbell punctuated by trippy drops for the floor.
