To mark their 25th year as one of the most esteemed imprints in dance music, Hospital Records head into 2021 with a groundbreaking selection of 25 brand new remixes, reworks, covers and VIPs of NHS classics, combining pinnacle Hospital figures and friends of the label for an all-encompassing celebration of drum & bass.

‘H25PITAL’ embarks on a journey throughout the past, present and future of Hospital Records, featuring the likes of Dillinja, S.P.Y, Flava D, DJ Marky, Unglued, Makoto, Loxy & Ink, Mitekiss, Nookie and more. Their quarter-century birthday commemorations raise the bar once again as a variety of sounds and styles come together for a 174BPM compilation like no other.

DRS & Dynamite, two legends who have taken the scene by storm with their collaborative outfit, team up with Logistics for a new-wave remix of the 2009 heater ‘Jungle Music’. Wordsmiths by nature, DRS & Dynamite lay down carefully crafted bars paying homage to their love for jungle and its roots over Logistics’ revamped instrumental.

Stepping up for remix duties on Danny Byrd’s iconic ‘Salute (feat. MC GQ)’ is none other than the king of the amen, Remarc offering his clear cut production skill. Breaks processed to perfection and an unruly bassline are fused flawlessly with elements of the original, including the nostalgia-inducing horns and illustrious vocals of drum & bass veteran GQ.

An instantly recognisable anthem to any drum & bass fan and an undeniable staple in the Hospital Records back catalogue, ‘Beautiful Lies’ by B-Complex gets the remix treatment from L-Side who’s been making moves with the V Recordings crew. The future meets a classic as minimal bouncing drum work and ripping bass stabs instil bursts of brand new energy into the track.

Expect a collision of sonic realms in Halogenix’s remix of Kings Of The Rollers’ infamous ‘Shella (feat. Chimpo)’. Flying the flag for the Critical Music family, Halogenix’s 2021 rendition which has been generating excitement from corner to corner in the world of drum & bass for some time now unleashes an absolute growler of a bassline as Manchester’s very own Chimpo dominates the topline.

The highly sought after VIP of Metrik’s ‘Cadence (feat. Reija Lee)’ is finally seeing the light of day. Dreamlike synthesis and ravishing vocals build a picturesque soundscape which soon evolves into Metrik’s signature high-octane flow as he delivers cutting-edge dancefloor vibes.

Calling upon pioneers of the scene, from Dillinja’s remix of Urbandawn’s ‘Come Together (feat. Tyson Kelly)’ to Ray Keith’s weighty interpretation of ‘Drum & Bossa’ by Landslide, as well as trailblazing newcomers including the likes of Winslow and Stay-C, the cross-generational sounds of drum & bass are united in one place on ‘H25PITAL’. Desmond McMahon returns for the second time to a record label who have firmly solidified themselves within both the US and European drum & bass market, having already bridged the gap across the Atlantic. His next EP on Santoku is an expert follow on from the release which provided a pedestal for the young producer, one who’s paved his way through the scene’s biggest stages in the US, the type which tastemakers look to when they consider the underground success of dance music’s pivotal sub genre. The finely-honed sounds of Des have often brought out the freshest turns in DJ sets and mixing styles, providing an intricate look into the younger members of drum & bass and the talent which they’re currently bringing through the ranks.

The four-track package from Des is a look into the versatility of the upcoming producer - from ‘No Need to Speak’ through to ‘Ghost’, he grapples with his heavy layering and carefully laid out musicality in a way that demonstrates just how illustrious he is as an artist. This time he’s taken a more dance floor approach, opposed to the cut throat style of his ‘Delirium’ EP, whilst still pushing his signature throughout every meticulous segment he builds, one on top of the next.

‘No Need to Speak’ draws you straight into the fray with drums which administer swift punches and a bassline that crackles throughout the mix. Next up ‘Bad Habits’ is just as dynamic, creating a driving rhythm which is punctuated by the records swift hooks that jump out from you between the composition. Following on is ‘Bulletproof’ which nods to its namesake and it’s impenetrable in its make up. And finally you’re brought into the wavering movements of ‘Ghost’, the perfect end to his ‘No need to Speak’ EP and giving a final snapshot into his diversity as a producer.

Santoku highlight how they have an eye for picking up blossoming newcomers - and Des is leading the charge. Although a go-to from the beginning, Santoku are making themselves widely felt without the need to submit to a more commercial appeal.

DIS133 welcomes HLZ back to the label for this monster of an EP. Back with four tracks of menacing bass and rolling drums, the follow on to last year’s excellent Vectors EP reminds us all what we love about that trademark HLZ sound.

The title track “Luther” and “Perpetual” demonstrate the tougher, rugged sound HLZ is known for. The legendary MC Fats adds an ethereal, dreamlike vocal to the enchanting “Mystery Sound” with the staccato synth line of “Circus Shot” completing the EP.

Based in Toulouse, Forum is a trio founded in 2019 by The Clamps & Opsen (also known as Burr Oak) and quickly joined by SKS (owner of Vandal Records) in 2021.
Known for their hard-hitting and energetic drum and bass tracks that blend elements of techstep and jungle with an old-school rave twist, they have released their music on prominent labels such as Ram Records, Vandal Records, and Teebee's Subtitles.
The Clamps, SKS, and Opsen each bring their own unique production style to the Forum project. 
Since forming, Forum has gained a strong following within the drum and bass community, and their tracks continue to be played by DJs around the world.
