Though heavily influenced by guitar-driven rock, pop, and blues born out of Memphis, New York City, Detroit, and the British Invasion in the 1960s, Foster McGinty is not a throwback artist recreating a golden period in popular music. While a familiar retro texture is ever-present, Foster McGinty has a sound and style undeniably both modern and original. McGinty left his midwestern Mississippi River upbringing as soon as he finished high school. Following a brief move to Los Angeles, McGinty would ultimately get his start in Memphis, TN playing long sets of all original material in smokey dives. A move to New York City would open McGinty up as an artist and performer, earning his stripes and working his way up to reputable clubs in the city's east and west villages. Based in Nashville, TN since 2014, McGinty is making a name in Music City on the burgeoning Americana scene.
