Peter didn't usually come home this late from work on a weeknight – but his girlfriend Anna was away overseas at a conference – and so he was dragging his feet, stopping in town to grab something to eat, and borrow a book from the library about Backpacking in Malaysia.

But now, as he walks down Terminus Street, not far from his flat, something horrible falls down out of the tree beside him. And he is shocked to find that it might be related to a woman who went missing the night before.
