Prequel's back with more of the soulful, jazz-tinged productions that got our attention first time round with his debut EP, our 3rd release: 'POLITE STRANGERS'. The record proved a hit with the likes of Gilles Peterson, Osunlade, Recloose, Mister Saturday Night, Ben UFO and garnered a cult following amongst music lovers, spreading the word of the label farther afield in the process. 
Holding the fort as Rhythm Section ambassador down under, Prequel has stepped things up for his sophomore EP, incorporating spoken word, subtle vocal lines and the same instrumental flourishes that drew us in the first time round. 
This is a record with a message, a record that speaks from the soul, an homage and above all a very serious artistic statement.

FHUO Records or For Heaven Use Only (@forheavenuseonly-records) is a new record label founded by @Folamour, who is also a co-founder of the widely successful @Moonrise-Hill-Material and a very talented producer in his own right. The forthcoming first release is a various artist EP and is titled "L'Homme ne descend pas du singe mais du bruit” translated to Man didn’t descend from monkeys but from noise. The tagline on the Soundcloud page reads “no informations needed”, which we assume means let the music do the talking.

One of the four tracks on the EP is by fellow MHM co-founder Victor Dijoud aka @kaffecreme, who released Moonrise Hill Material’s highly sought after second record. “Baciami Subito” is proof again that the Lyon based producer and multi-instrumentalist is able to elegantly merge samples with his own sound to create something unique.

The release will be out in November, be sure to add this one to your collection as soon as its available!

The White Tapes EP of new @secretreels features three original tracks by Kian T (@kiantmusic) and a B side remix by Dutch wizard Daniel Leseman (@danielleseman), which we have the pleasure of premiering here today. 

Daniel takes the original, raw vibes of “Flughafen” and flips it on its feet into a clean-cut, sanguine affair. His signature warm chords and brassy synths are front and center, turning the spacey, atmospheric elements and twinkly keys taken from the original into complementary background pieces. A not too busy, club-oriented groove with hand drums, muted cowbells, crisp hats and jazzy rides gives the melodic elements room to breathe and helps solidify the track as one you’re sure to dance to in the near future.

"Tomahawk Records" is a new label that resists genres and hones in on the curation and sound of new artists. The label is keen to push undiscovered artists out into the periphery and give them the support to help grow as individuals.
The first release which is just round the corner is by the Australian duo "Anthony Fade", two hidden gems found on Soundcloud. Their process is a simple combination of hardware and software instruments and heavy use of ambient recordings and various samples. The EP titled "Like That" contains four tracks of late summer vibes, dreamy vocals and a massive dose of energy getting ready for winter.

@tlimshug is behind the wheel for BODO004 (@bobby-donny) and we have an exclusive preview of the A2 track, “Wig Split”. True to form, Tlim Shug sticks to the lo-fi sound that has made him one of the well known names in the now booming trend. A DJ Smokey sampled and looped hip-hop vocal with a simple yet contagious and haunting keyboard melody form the backbone of the track. Low-passed hats and claps paired with crushed toms and snares form the no-frills four on the floor beat while a beefy bassline drives the song. DC Promo Tracks #36: Lo Life "Gucci Tennis 84"

Over half a year has passed since Loz Goddard’s last outing on Brooklyn’s Razor N Tape but he’s back on a solo tip with this 4 tracker of slightly deeper and more synth-driven cuts than we’ve been used to this year from the man. Slap Dancer sets the tone with punchy drum & sample hits, easily the most club oriented of the bunch. Duplicity sees Loz back on that slightly funkier sound we have come to know of recent times, but with a little added dustiness. Flavour adds a little extra sprinkling of dust with it’s rolling drums and chords – proper chillin’ basement tackle. Be sure to check that B2 cut Sunset Vista for that slow, machine driven & synthed out acid jam as well.

Yet more talent emerging from 'God's Own Country' is Red Bull Music Academy graduate Katherine Anderson AKA k2k. 

Not hanging around post-graduation, Katherine has been releasing tunes, co-producing NZ dance broadcast ‘Scenery: New Zealand’ and throwing parties with Auckland collective, Inky Waves.

Katherine's partiality for a dusty house track and late night boogie jams is demonstrated both through her Deejay sets and productions. 'We Down For' is the first taste from her debut EP Sugar, due to drop in January on fast emerging NZ house and techno label MARGINS.

This track is carried through lug-holes and into your bonce via surging cosmic chords, a warm bass line, dusty Brandy vocals and smooth percussion. A real warmer for a frosty day.

We’ve mused before on the Valby sound, one which as their release schedule grows, remains reassuringly new, and stays assuredly close to our hearts. This is the first time https://soundcloud.com/tomvalbyrotary and https://soundcloud.com/louisfitton have passed over the reigns to a new face, welcome https://soundcloud.com/jeigomusic.

A suitably named track this one- iridescent keys catch your eye and beckon you over, rich and inviting; natural pearls can do that though. The track builds and smoulders over a two step rhythm, pushing it, and you forward. Follow the siren vocals and be guided by the shifting bass, such a composition can sometimes be hard to resist.

@salaryboy - a Boy/Man who, the observant of you may have seen we’ve taken a keen interest in over the years. He’s taken our mix series for a delightful ride twice, the only human to ever complete that feat, remarkably. But, please let our narcissistic digressions over the hallowed mix series not take away from the fact that ‘There is a Way’ should be the main focus of your brain power for the next 7 minutes.

The sort of tune that the crafted levels, meticulously executed interplaying lines and bubbling structure can lull one into a full sense of security. Then you realise you’re 4 minutes in, at the crescendo of the tune with no idea how you’ve got there. Full circle night out vibes are encapsulated well in this track.

Do you think if you ever got to walk through Escher’s staircase you would question how you got there, or how long you had been stepping through the impossible object? More likely you would appreciate the mind bending mirage you had encountered. Probably. Listen to the above and take in the piece of art, it's hypnotising.

Sour Edits, is a label that without doubt has brought so much foot tapping, head nodding happiness into this world. Every floor driven release has managed to crack a wry smile in everyone over at Four Heads HQ when we routinely unearth these releases; even the accounting department on the most solemn of Mondays when the lacklustre Q4 numbers are rolling in.

The issue is, is that circa 70% (predictions based on real-time data collected by our GDPR compliant operatives) of you will be listening to this, perhaps alone, perhaps with headphones on. If this is you, yes you, this is not the optimum enjoyment level for this tune. As your advisor, potential friend and definite Soundcloud ally you must cast down these shackles and head out - to fun, to friends , to life itself.

Unsure how we got so deep there so quickly but this one is a real stellar effort, you'll understand when you press play.
