[SPA347] NAVIBERG - Muovt Wuaglio

Back in 2018, Argentinian producer Fernando Pulichino released ‘Search of Indigo’ on Leng, a shuffling slab of colourful, Balearic-adjacent dub disco featuring his own distinctive lead vocals and backing vocals from Luca Gasparini. Six years on, the track returns renewed and refreshed thanks to a string of new floor-friendly reworks by LTJ Experience and Pulichino himself.

Fernando kicks off the EP with his ‘AM Mix’, an inspired re-invention that re-frames the song as a hard-wired, acid-fired chugger – all restless, razor-sharp TB-303 lines, low-slung bass guitar and sparkling piano riffs. On the digital version of the EP Pulichino has also offered up his ‘PM Mix’, a deliciously Balearic disco dub rich in colourful synth sounds, elastic bass, flanged guitars and sun-bright piano licks.

It's LTJ Experience’s trio of remixes that lie at the heart of the EP though. The Italian producer, real name Luca Trevisi, initially made his name as a downtempo and nu-jazz producer before perfecting a trademark style of chugging, slow-motion hedonism that draws influence from both deep house and nu-disco. His main Remix foregrounds many of these trademark elements, in the process delivering a bongo-rich chugger laden with delay-heavy bass guitar sounds, head-nodding drums, heady guitar loops and echoing vocal snippets.

On the Dirty Mix, Trevisi reaches for tight, short TB-303 ‘acid’ loops, a more sparse and heavy rhythm track offering a more heads-down, dubbed-out affair that should delight those who love late night and early morning hypnotism with flashes of wide-eyed sonic bliss. Then, to round things off, Trevisi delivers a heady, atmospheric and spaced-out Dub full of jazz guitar licks, bubbling electronics, vocal snippets and effects-laden bass. It’s a winning combination.

AZIZ returns to NYMFIELD with his second EP called 'Soul'. Four smooth deep house cuts making sure you're warm during these upcoming winter months. The EP starts with the title track 'Soul'. A tune with attention to detail within its layers. This in combination with solid beats, heavy bass and soul soothing chords, makes the tune true to its name. 'Higher' is a lush deep house record which finds its inspiration more into the mid-00's era of deep house. More techy and tighter beats in combination with deep pads and lush chords. Advancing into the EP we encounter the soul uplifting 'I Wish I Knew'. A bit reminiscent of summer and its glory days, this record is filled with synths, catchy vocals & that old school groove. Rounding off the EP we have 'Can't You See'. A proper mellow deep house cut. While the EP holds his basis within the deeper sounds, AZIZ brings multiple vibes & energy levels to the table. His 'Soul' is out on all major platforms on the 17th of October

Berlin’s Cinthie has rapidly become one of them most in-demand DJ’s and producers in recent times, a staple in the electronic music scene of the German capital she heads up a number of imprints as well as a record store and touring the globe. Last year saw her debut on Will Saul’s Aus imprint and the start of a new direction musically, here Cinthie continues this, returning to the label with three more disco-tinged, sampled house cuts. 

Title-cut ‘Mesmerising’ leads with cinematic strings, squelchy acid bass and loose organic percussion at its core whilst an amalgamation of choppy vocals and licks and stuttering atmospherics ebb and flow within the groove. 

‘Time To Move’ follows, retaining a similar aesthetic, focusing on filtered string loops, soaring vocal chants and a bumpy arpeggio bass before ‘Dancing’ rounds out the package on a more refined tip, this time extracting influences from the previous two tracks courtesy of cut up vocals and gritty bass while the rhythmic side employs a more upfront house feel.

Phonica welcome Yak to their ever-growing yet esteemed family, offering up the Sheffield based producers new four track ‘Gerudo EP’ on their central Phonica label. Perhaps unsurprisingly yet often a rarity these days, Yak is a classically trained instrumentalist which has enabled him to push his production to that next notch. This is reflected in the prestige of his releases, which have been for the likes of R&S, 3024 and Black Beacon having all received support from DJ royalty such as Ben UFO, Midland, Joy Orbison, Objekt, Call Super, Or:la and Laurel Halo amongst many others.

This new 12” is a great example of how percussion can be the vital core to direct movement on a dancefloor. The record opens with this premiere, ‘Zip’, a nod to the housier tracks that introduced Yak to electronic music. Fine keyboard details add a shades of Techno to a track built on its organic drum break and undulating bassline.
