"Trip This Way" has a massive bass line, percussions and Latin vibes with an original use of the sampling primarily as ear candy. On the B side both "Acid Invaders" and "War Of Love" demonstrate the typical depth of Recut, heady enough for the most acid and psychedelic recesses but with buckets full of energy, an essential club tool for any discerning DJ. Our 2023 plan to expand the Major catalog to include music by artists in addition to Majorettes is well underway and continues this month with “La Pampara”, a deep and bass-heavy track by Colombian artist ELO (a moniker of the DJ known as Leeon). ELO first appeared on Major Records in 2022 delivering an anthemic remix of “The Waves” by Majorettes. This versatile and excellent producer hails from Bogotá and is known worldwide for his sensual and often darker explorations of dance music. The title track “La Pampara” includes a cheeky vocal that plays against a wobbling acid underbelly. The track has made the rounds in the last couple of months as a demo on far-reaching dance floors before landing at Major Records to our delight. 

On the remix, Mystic Bill takes the “La Pampara” beach party into an acidy moon-rise. Bill is one of our all time favorites of the American underground; his unique sound, developed in Chicago and pumped through Miami, is familiar and beloved to any true house-head. We are so happy to welcome him to the Major Records family.

Our next premiere of the day features Irish DJ and producer BALMR with his track “Paths Unknown” featuring on Sofa Movements Records. The track is as introspectively deep-house as one can imagine. Drawing clear experience from Detroit which makes for top-tier listening. Get dug into this!

Raised on the seemingly ingrained House sound of Cork and its heavy influence by renowned and revered House heads Fish Go Deep and their Sweat Nights at the legendary Sir Henry’s Club it was an inevitable progression for BALMR to follow the path of producer and DJ. In his own words: ‘It was difficult to escape the sound of House Music growing up in Cork’.

Over the past decade, BALMR’s released material on Nordic Trax, Kolour Detroit, Expanded Records and more, while hosting his own Down Right Deep Show on Deep House Radio. Here, presenting his new latest collection of works, ‘Paths Unknown’ sees BALMR captures moments in time and individual journeys to paths previously undiscovered.

BALMR always had a personal love for the Detroit sound, particularly artists like Norm Talley, Mike Huckaby, Delano Smith, Moodymann and so on, which naturally lead him to his production journey.

He has had numerous releases and remixes in his catalogue as well as working on mixing for other artists on labels like Yore. He is also one of half of the duo ‘Southbounds Sounds’, having recently featured as a guest on Lars Behrenroths DSOH show. As well as this stunning release, BALMR has several other upcoming projects this year, including 2 vinyl-only releases with one on ‘Selections Label’ out of Toronto featuring a remix from Glenn Davis, and another on Deeper Groove with his fellow collaboration partner Deep Excavations, featuring a remix from John Daly. 

Honing in on his latest bit of production material, ‘Paths Unknown’ opens the flip side, as the composition dives deep and back into immersive and airy realms through subtly nuanced textures, resonant synth licks and snaking bass grooves. Dreamy atmospheres can be heard throughout this composition which is utterly filled with warmth and depth throughout.

Growing up in the 90s in rural upper Austria, Jakobin spent his time with skateboarding and listening to lots of hip hop before witnessing the halcyon days of the Vienna downbeat era and later being introduced to Austria's club culture.
Pursuing his growing passion for collecting vinyl, he started spinning his first records in the region and later moved to the Austrian capitol. There he connected with likeminded people. Quickly getting immersed in the Viennese electronic music scene, he started producing and DJing with his long time friend Domino under the moniker Jakobin & Domino and became founding members of Luv Shack Records in 2011. After a number of successful releases he started his solo career and began working on his live setup. His growing collection of analog gear helped shaping his productions. An overview of his current sound is expressed on his new record ‚Forever More‘. Heavily influenced on 90s UK house productions this 3-track EP will activate your senses and move your body with its groovy basslines and drums, creating an irresistible rhythm.

‚Forever More‘ will come out in its digital form on September 8, 2023. And later this year on limited vinyl.

Nie Wieder Schlafen returns with a long overdue comeback and brings back the notorious belgium live artist Varaz with a premium vinyl release in a heartfelt tribute to a dear friend, whose memory inspired the creation of this beautiful work of art.

Varaz gently leads the A side with 2 ambient affairs to build the base of the textured and mindful sounds that is incorporated in this white marbled wax.

The EP's first two tracks, "Agora" and "All I Hear," are sophisticated and textured ambient soundscapes that invite the listener into a contemplative and introspective state. Varaz's deft touch blends ethereal tones with intricate soundscapes, creating a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere.

ZentaSkai undertook a period of research into the underlying structure and organisation of the human brain before writing ‘The Architecture Of The Mind’. The Berlin-based artist then took what had been learned and kept it in mind when writing the music that marks Mask's first album release. It comes with extensive background notes on each track, and an operational manual of sorts - notes from the artists as to the effects each piece will have on those who hear them. 

"The message conveyed by this album is that life itself is filled with music, but our egos often prevent us from being in harmony with this symphony. Inner chaos and silence can be challenging to bear, leading us to seek solace in external noise. We have constructed a barrier between our inner and outer worlds, causing us to lose touch with the rhythm of harmony. However, by embracing the illusion of separation and dancing to good music, we can rediscover harmony with ourselves and our environment. To fully experience the essence of the album, it should be played loudly on a proper sound system or high-quality headphones. The gorgeous 'Mind Mapping' opens up with deep and dubby drums and lush harmonies that soothe you to your core, '030' then has more raw, heavy drums with many layers of glowing synths, glassy melodies and organic found sounds. 'Fügung' keeps the deep and introspective moods coming before the crisp tech of 'Flow Dreaming' ups the ante with more drive and layers of vocal whispers, hi-hats and smeared dub chords. Elsewhere the likes of 'Quiet Reflection' lean into the groove with swirling pads and one-word vocal sounds drifting through the air over propulsive drum loops, and 'Boiling Range' suspends you in deft synth loops amongst the stars over a prickly house beat. 

The superb synth craft and well-designed grooves continue through the dusty deep house of 'Karl-Marx-Allee' and minimal dub of 'Dynamic System' before the elegant melodic techno of 'Apeiron' and dreamy synthscapes of 'Parallel 30' close the album in a reflective fashion. 

This is a deeply evocative album with a fully realised concept that is as thought-provoking as it is immersive.
