We premiere new music from Spanish-born techno producer Hurtado as he returns to UVB’s coveted imprint Body Theory for a 5 track EP. We premiere ‘Over The Sea’, a cathartic broken techno weapon that leans on definitive Spanish and Birmingham traditions as Hurtado explores the world of textured & splintered hard-edged techno.

Berlin-based, Spanish-born Hurtado is one of the most promising techno acts to emerge from the Mediterian in recent years. Honing in on a classic Birmingham and Spanish-affiliated sound the young producer aims to breathe new life into an already exemplary era of techno. The youngster has already received high praise from techno stalwarts such as Regis, UVB, Dynamic Forces, and more, as he has had the pleasure of being remixed by both Regis and Dynamic Forces, while also releasing on UVB & Dynamic Forces labels.

With close to a decade’s worth of experience in techno production and DJing the Hurtado’s influences come from various corners, but his deep fascination for Birmingham, Spanish, and Eastern European techno sound continues to inspire him. His musical proposal can be defined as a symbiosis between past and future, full of broken and forceful rhythms. The youngster is perhaps best known for his collaborative alias with UVB as they form the duo “Education Club”.

We premiere ‘Over The Sea’ from Hurtado’s return to UVB’s beloved Body Theory label. The track is a hardheaded and pragmatic look into contemporary Brummie-influenced techno. The youngster blurs the line between UK-driven bass-heavy funk and the textured & industrial influence coming from the East of Europe, creating a symphony of snarling and purgative hard-edged sounds.

Four Four Premiere: Hurtado - Over The Sea [Body Theory]

Italian-born, Berlin-based artist VSK delivers his first solo release of 2023. The DJ, producer and familiar face on 47’s back catalogue blends searing techno with trippy motifs, building signature soundscapes, knife-edged textures and misty atmospheres.

Following his collaboration with Flaminia last year on 47, VSK dips into a haunting sound palette on 47036, fusing foreboding feels with an astral touch. The opener, “Sfere a Contatto”, sets the tone with a claustrophobic melody and noise-driven background, while “Terza Variabile” melds squelchy synth notes with marching kickdrums, evoking a menacing mood. On the B-side, the punchy “Ottimizzazion” stitches drone-like notes against a gravelly background, creating tension and a sense of unease. The final track, “Codici e Figure”, displays VSK’s broken-beat stylings, mutating witchy aesthetics and mechanical whirrs to stimulate a surreal, skin-crawling trip.

47036 will be released on June 16th, available as limited edition vinyl and digital formats.

V+1003V Exium - Regressions EP TEASER

Lyon-based artist Tauceti has emerged as an intriguing talent in recent years. As a producer, Tauceti leans into the more obscure areas of lustrous techno and hazy ambient. On her four-tracker "47038", she fuses these aesthetics to produce a collection that bridges the dancefloor and introspective listening.

"Minya Konka" opens the EP with gnarly drums and a luminous synthline, oscillating between dense and airy soundscapes. "Minghun" melds droney textures with wintry pads, stirring up a macabre atmosphere. On a driving note, "Plum Blossom" uncoils with rolling kickdrums and aqueous stabs, forming a lithe and limber 4/4 number. The closing tune, "Queqiao", is a beatless slow burner set against a soupy backdrop, pierced with light-sabre-like FX. It summarises Tauceti's polished sound design, which bleeds throughout "47038", and showcases her explorations into dusky, cinematic techno and noise-led sounds.
