A versatile approach characterises Manuela Mannarini AKA Yas Reven’s ‘HARD20’, her debut release dropping on DJ Cosworth’s Bristol-based Hardline label. It draws on bass, techno, and club around the 140bpm template, coming with a hefty dose of infectious energy and creative rhythms. As a DJ, the Milan-based artist is well established in her homeland, having played all over Italy, including a Boiler Room session at Polifonic Festival last summer. “For my debut release, I began the project thinking that I didn't want to focus on a specific genre, but rather, I wanted to experiment with various genres with extreme freedom and without limitations. The project indeed, consisting of three different tunes, represents a sonic adventure encompassing diverse paths fueled by passion and born out of the necessity to make the body move.” - Yas Reven The rubbery and elastic grooves of ‘WHoO-Oo!’ in Yas Reven’s ‘HARD20’ bounce up and down as light vocal chops keep up the energy. Following suit, the Dublin-based Dylan Fogarty skillfully flips the track into a straight-up techno pumper with warm, forceful kicks and insistent synth stabs to take things to the next level. The compelling broken beats of Yas Reven’s ‘Sensible Shoes’, marked by its vast hits and supersized drums, keep things moving via warped vocal bass and string-like stabs. Closing out the EP, the innovative rhythms of ‘Little Breake’ then has its percussion scattered around a booming kick, making for a dynamic and unpredictable groove that is sure to work the floor into a frenzy.

Nervous Horizon’s co-founder and label honcho TSVI is back with a new release, Mediterraneo EP.

As a homage to the sonic legacy that influenced the artist’s formative years, the five track EP is inspired by the Mediterranean Progressive movement which became popular in Italy between the late 90s and the early 00s. At the time, italo dance music had a distinctive trance influence; producers like Gigi D’Agostino, Mauro Picotto and Mario Piú were among the most prominent artists of the scene.

In Mediterraneo EP, TSVI combines the elements of this iconic movement with contemporary drum patterns and his signature sound.

The opening track, ‘Progressiva’, features a synth line evocative of 00s dance hits like Sydney Samson’s ‘Riverside’ or Federico Franchi ‘Cream’. With its steady groove and hands-in-the-air emotional breakdown, it is destined to be a festival anthem.

‘Vitamina H’ and ‘HHG’ take a less emotional approach, focusing on raw club energy. Dark melodies and Italian vocal samples dominate in ‘Vitamina H’, building up to a climatic frenzy of percussive triplets in the second half. ‘HHG’ borrows elements from HandzUp!, a trance subgenre which was popular in Germany and in various parts of Europe in the early 2000s. Both tracks are influenced by Raptor house, a genre of electronic music that originated in Caracas, Venezuela in the early-1990s, and ‘HHG’ features one of the originators of the genre, Dj Babatr, who helped pioneer the sound and is a huge inspiration for TSVI.

The last two tracks, ‘Parhasar’ and ‘Ultimo Impero’, are named after two legendary clubs in Turin, where progressive trance and hardstyle flourished in the early 1990s. Unlike the first three tracks of the project, where the production is almost entirely sample based, in these final tunes there is a particular focus on sound design evoking a hypnotic energy which serves as the perfect closing for the record.

Ar Ais Arís (AAA) is an electronic music night providing a safe space for counter-culture in Galway, on the west coast of Ireland. It combines DIY approaches with high production values
through art, graphic design, venue decor & lighting, and high-end soundsystems. 

The night places a strong emphasis on inclusivity, diversity and safety. AAA is very proud to announce the launch of a dedicated label. The first release is a compilation featuring five tracks from producers associated with Ireland's bass music underground and the AAA club night itself.

Since its inception, Ar Ais Arís (AAA) has fostered a welcoming space for counter-culture expression while prioritizing inclusivity, diversity, and safety. The launch of the AAA label represents a natural progression, providing a platform for predominantly Irish electronic music producers.

By definition, "atonal" refers to composing music by obscuring tonal structures or by ignoring conventional harmonies altogether.

It is also the moniker that Loris Scaglia adopted to express himself creatively, rewritten with a diacritic across the second vowel to accentuate the idea of no restraint when it comes to sonic exploration. For the better part of fifteen years, ATØNAL has been a music enthusiast, experimenting with sound through different disciplines in the likes of music production, DJing and event curatorship.

Influenced by 90s and 2000s club music, ATØNAL has crafted his own signature style through a formidable eclecticism in the realm of Electronic Dance genres. Shifting between Bass, Breaks, Garage and Techno-infused sounds, he blurs genre barriers through sets as sharp as they are unexpected.

Although native to Lausanne, ATØNAL has explored the better parts of Romandy through residencies through nightclubs such as le Zoo. Now back in his home town, he holds a residency at Le Bourg as a co-founder of the platform Breakfast Club where he showcases the Swiss electronic scene through various projects he oversees. ATØNAL is one to proudly incorporate while simultaneously generously giving back to his community.

How does one stay authentic to their roots yet consistently evolve? Perhaps by intertwining the lines between the personal self and artistic persona. This avoidance of tradition to welcome innovation is something evident in his work. COUNTERBALANCE is a work ethic ATØNAL adopted to level his visual and sonic creative endeavours. A glimpse into his activities, whether by working in advertising during the day or the usage of cap locks in his titles, reflects an urge to be present and expresses that branding is very dear to him. An ongoing thought process in the separation and attachment to one’s self with a pseudonym to do just that: be loud.
