A highlight set from this year for me and my USA Debut, the amazing Ayesha invited me to play Nowadays in Brooklyn NYC earlier this year in March. it was an honour to play and a huge mile stone especially in such good company alongside my good friends coco and Ayesha. 

this set really represents the different sides of how my sound has developed over the years. it was amazing opening the club and building the energy, starting with loads of dubbed out uk techno percussiveness and the final hour filled with loads of 2 step, electro, and breaks trying to showcase alot of classic uk sounds to The NY crowd, shouts to everyone who came from the beginning also to Eva, Joey, Sam and Andre and the rest of the crew I met out there, and of course to Nowadays and Ayesha for having me across the pond.

Incoming! We premiere the latest track from Dublin based producer Billy Spike Iland, as he releases on Theo Nasa’s Alien Sound Trax label as part of a stellar 10 track Various Artists compilation, showcasing a wealth of serious talent.

As a skilled DJ and seasoned promoter, Billy Spike Iland has been organising stand out club shows in Dublin over the last few years, bringing over the likes of DMX Krew, Mortiz Von Oswald, CEM & Mama Snake with his Utopia Collective which is Co ran with Adam Mc Croie. 

Label owner Theo Nasa says “We have devoted ourselves around weird electronic sounds from the start of the label taking our time carefully selecting tracks, but now it's time to show our first VA with majority of up and coming producers showing that they got, plus underground heavyweights bursting through".

The title track 'Emergency 138' brings the listener on a deep, dark, driving, hypnotic, techno journey which will be released as a free download on October 16th, 2020 on Alien Sound Trax label.

Four Four Premiere - Billy Spike Iland - Emergency 138

Our first Local Selection of 2021 is from Kildare born and bred, Furlo, the DJ and producer responsible for the excellent Manifest collective.

Since the age of 16, Furlo has found his passion in DJing, but it was only within the last couple of years that he found his style in techno. Taking inspiration from the likes of Dyen, Nico Moren and Perc, Furlo is known to play the dark, heavier side of techno.

In 2019 saw Furlo on support duties for some of our favourite techno heavy-hitters, such as Remco Beekwilder, Yant, JKS & Mayeul alongside multiple DJ sets around Dublin and Ireland. Prior to lockdown at the beginning of 2020, Furlo supported the legendary Thomas P. Heckmann on his eagerly anticipated return to Irish shores.

With 2020 being a complete whitewash for the club scene, Furlo and his Manifest team have been busy building their Manifest podcast series, recruiting a whole host of Irish talent for their series.

Furlo contributes to our nationwide Local Selection series today, so for the next hour stick Furlo's dark and eerie mix on, as he dives deep into some of his favourite techno tunes of late.

Local Selection 116: Furlo

Our first premiere of the week comes from Armed Response Unit's Will Boyle, as the young producer launches his solo project with a hypnotic and relentless thumper. 

Will's debut solo EP has a more stripped back and hypnotic approach, compared to the usual madness and soul crunching techno that we are used to hearing with Armed Response Unit productions, mixes and club shows.

Prior to lockdown and the dance music pause button being pushed, Will and his Armed Response Unit partner Louis were on a roll, supporting techno giants Slam in Index, plus running their hard hitting ‘Speed Demons‘ club night and party, which specialises in banging techno with a large slice of raucous behaviour on the side. 

However, as we once again familiarise ourselves with a nationwide lockdown, the duo have been busy in their respective studios perfecting their collaborative and solo techniques. This has seen Will stack up a large bank of solo tracks from the last 9 months of lockdown, some of which are set for releases in the coming year. 

The 3 Track EP, which is being self-released on Bandcamp and various platforms, will be available digitally from February 20th.

Four Four Premiere: Will Boyle - Dissolution

The sure fire way into our hearts is with ghetto tech. High Fidelity makes his Local Selection mix debut, with a blistering hour of electro and ghetto tech to soundtrack your Wednesday afternoon.

High Fidelity, aka Robert Stapleton, is a familiar face within the Irish club scene. With icons such as Jensen Interceptor, DeFeKT and Aloka as his idols, Robert’s abstract electro and techno productions hugely complement the fast-paced energy found in his live sets. 

A host of club and festival appearances across the Emerald Isle, including Life Festival and Higher Vision, has provided a platform to propel his distinctive performances to a wider audience.  

As his production catalogue continues to grow, propelled by new releases with Wachita China’s 'WC Fast Music' label and Edinburgh based label 'Milkit', with his latest delivery ‘Unknown Entity’ released on the 5th of February with Irish label 'Choki Biki'. The track features as part of the 6 track various artists album entitled Breaks for Days Vol. 1, which includes fantastic contributions from an all Irish roster of artists and aims to celebrate the versatility of breaks.

With a back catalogue of scheduled releases, remixes, and featured mixes all ahead of him, it's safe to say 2021 is looking like one to remember, however, right now, it's his Local Selection mix, as High Fidelity takes the controls for the afternoon.

Expect a huge serving of electro and ghetto tech, as High Fidelity provides us with one hell of an hour, featuring tracks from the likes of  False Persona, DJ Sickfuck, Amadezzy, 7uka, YTP,  Marcus32x and Raw Takes to name a few.
