This weeks entry to the Local Selection welcomes a live recording from two rising DJs Emmie and Faye as they have so kindly shared their set taken from their gig in Wigwam playing for Research before D.Dan back in December. The pair weave through an array of hypnotic cuts throughout the recording which make for a delightful listen.

For the 235th edition of the series, we have a superb back-to-back recording featuring Kildare-born and now Dublin-based DJs Emmie and Fayeolo from their show with Research supporting Mala Junta resident and summerpup label owner D.Dan in Wigwam back in December of 2023.

Both DJs began mixing when they started college just shy of 2 years ago and have harnessed their skill and dedication during this time while enjoying a range of opportunities as solo artists and as a back-to-back pairing. Showing an impeccable level of understanding of techno, Emmie and Fayeolo derive inspiration from the late 90s and early 00s era of the genre. This has resulted in playing for acclaimed parties such as Slither, Research and Hidden Love across the city in a range of venues, while both artists will enjoy their festival debuts this St. Patrick’s Day at Otherside which will be a fantastic achievement for both artists.

As both Emmie and Fayeolo gain more knowledge about the foundations of underground dance music, they delve further into sub-genres of techno. Given that D.Dan possesses quite a hypnotic, groove-driven sound it is clear that the pair explored that particular soundscape while adding their own flare for good measure. This is apparent from selections which vary from melodic breaks to looped baselines as the mix captures their exploration by spinning some deep techno cuts for your listening pleasure.

Local Selection 235: Emmiee B2B Fayeolo

Niall is a 22 year old Irish based artist specialising in Hardgroove, Hypnotic & Tribal techno. He has a passion for all forms of electronic music, but his true sound is heavily influenced by the late 90s & early 2000s era of loop-driven techno, however, it’s no surprise to hear a variety of genres from both the new and the old era's in Niall’s highly energetic sets. 

He has performed all over Ireland in the last 2 years, with multiple headline shows in various Irish cities like Galway, Sligo, Limerick & Dublin. 

In Summer 2023, Niall made his first Irish festival appearances at Electric Picnic & Life Festival, and also wrapped up his first tour in Canada & America alongside his former collective, with performances in Vancouver, San Diego, San Francisco, Chicago & New York. 

This tour allowed him to share his musical talents & knowledge on an international scale for the first time & gave him great exposure doing so. 

Niall has notably supported many international artists like Hector Oaks, X-Club, Azyr, Partiboi69, Skin on Skin, Riot Code, Salute and Testpress. The above list of artists shows Niall’s sheer versatility on the decks and that he is not limited to playing just one genre. He is also a lover of all-night-long sets, having completed 6 to date with hopefully many more in the future. 

In the world of production, Niall embarked on his creative journey in January 2023, and it has been quite a successful one so far. He’s gotten 3 releases under his belt to date, and they have already received support from artists such as VTSS, TRYM, Boyz Noize, Bad Boombox, Juicy Romance & 2qwik2gruv. 

With more projects currently in the pipeline, including his first label releases & remixes, he doesn't show any sign of stopping soon with his productions.

Lysander is combining tribalistic nostalgia with a modern drive. His inspirations comes from the late 90s early 2000s era when techno was percussive, organic and full of heavy basslines. He started with his first EP ´FATAL FUSION VOL 01´ in the Beginning of this Year, which was supported by big Names of the scene like DJ Heartstring and JKS. In this pure vinyl mix he plays classics mixed with secret weapons from the early 2000s.
