For several years now ISLA has been serving up the best in ambient, experimental and trance-driven creations, welcoming artists like Ambien Baby, D.Tiffany, Pillow Queen, NAP and Le Fe to the label. Next up they've called on Maara for 'A Potion Activated', marking her second EP following a debut on Priori and Ex-Terrestrial's NAFF imprint. Backed up by a remix and a collaboration from two label affiliates D.Tiffany and NAP, the release teeters 'between heaven and hell', delivering five trance-inducing rides into purgatory.

In celebration of International Women's Day 2022 all proceeds from this release will go directly to charities working to create safe sleeping spaces for homeless migrants, trans, inter and queer health care and people with disabilities in Berlin as well as various charities in Ukraine.

Our latest premiere is now online featuring a track titled 'Gaborone West Groove' from our close friend and Lepton head honcho, Ngoni Egan.

Now based in Rotterdam, the Irish artist debuts on United Identities with a five-track EP that pays tribute to his roots, diving into Ngoni's familial heritage in Botswana and explores his sound beyond electro.

After years of practice in the studio, Ngoni's innate skill to blend electro, techno and percussive textures really comes to light on "Re Teng" with 'Gaborone West Groove' in particular rumbling through with a huge bassline and snappy percussion.

It was time for plan b. The second phase of the operation and a chance to broaden their horizons. Perhaps they hadn’t gone far enough the first time around or maybe it was simply a case of that they’d underestimated the force required. It wasn’t easy to encourage lost souls to seek serenity and find the light. It had taken him a long time to stumble through the darkness of the forest and find the clearing.

They were out here in the middle of nowhere, trying to persuade a people of a power they could not see, hear or feel. At least not as they knew it… For it was in the dense green of the trees, the radiant glow of the sunbeams which poured down upon the old woods, the soft breeze as it blew and rustled the leaves in the light of the Autumn morning. Perhaps phase two would make them see it all…
 
Ngoni Egan is a Rotterdam based producer from Dublin. He is set to release a new EP via Carista’s record label United Identities and trust us when we tell you it’s a little bit special. Fast paced, wandering between ethereal sounds and textures it bangs in all the right places and leaves enough space in between for free thought and imagination.

Pour apporter notre soutien à la lutte nous avons proposé aux artistes DÔME de composer des tracks à partir de discours et chants de manif.
En 5 jours ont été produit ces 5 titres reprenant ce que nous entendons et crions toutes les semaines dans la rue dans une version dance, d’où le nom « Manif Hits ».

S.R donne des envies de révolte avec « Metro, Boulot, Caveau », Jonfaustus nous livre une version electroclash terriblement efficace de « Les jeunes dans la galère, les vieux dans la misère… », René Danger et les élèves des Beaux Arts du Mans aux choeurs s’unissent façon Steve Reich / clapping, Swing Loww souligne l’absence d’empathie des dirigeant.e.s, et Blutch reprend « à cause de Macron » du collectif féministe les Rosies façon disco/house.

Suite au départ de notre doux raver Matthieu nous avons hésité à sortir cette compilation, mais il y a urgence et on est certain.e.s que ces super edits auraient beaucoup amusé Matthieu.

Les bénéfices sont reversés aux caisses de grève, au delà de l’aide financière, l’objectif de cette compilation est surtout de maintenir la flamme, remotiver les troupes et soutenir la mobilisation!

31 Years of Clone Records: Sonic Transmutations Box Set and Club Night at Tresor

The Sonic Transmutations compilation features 33 artists in total and will be released as a limited edition box set in September 2023. 
 
Announced in tandem with a club night hosted by Berlin’s Tresor on 28 May, Sonic Transmutations is an extended compilation album celebrating over three decades of Clone Records. Marking the 31 years – which is coincidentally the national Dutch telephone code – the 8x12 inch box set draws together veteran talent and emerging iconoclasts, transmitting a frequency rooted the imprint’s signature blend of essential dance music while journeying off into territories unknown. In a constant state of unfolding, morphing across phases of matter, Sonic Transmutations purveys an elemental energy that stands in testament to Clone’s enduring legacy and explorations of sounds and structures.
 
New recruit Alberta Balsam opens up the A side with ‘Anthem’, a synth-heavy medley that encapsulates her tech-savvy approach and impressive repertoire of vintage hardware. Next up, Alden Tyrell, also known under the moniker of A Visitor From Another Meaning, supplies a ride-or-die accolade to Detroit, partnering a wigged-out drum machine with eerie distortion. Frankfurt’s electro figurehead Anthony Rother follows on, landing hard with a fuzzy bassline and threateningly slick high-hats, before Dopplereffekt – the legendary duo Rudolf Klorzeiger and To-Nhan – programme a moody space jam full of roving chords and jagged harmonics. His first track since 2017, Dexter’s ‘Pumapunku’ provides a punchy, breakdance twist on 808 beat patterns and DJ Sotofett’s ‘Bachi’ is wondrously weird reimagining of electro’s funk groove. E.R.P.’s ‘Ugly Pretty June’ contrasts dreamy atmospheres with banging drive and, between these stalwart names, emerges Dim Garden, a producer redefining raw electronics, amalgamating minimal wave with noisy industrial and gothic folklore.
 
Since its inception, Clone has sought out uncompromising sonic encounters. In 1992, founder Serge put out the inaugural release under his Orx moniker, which soon led to further productions, as well as the first iterations of the record store and mail order. Forging close ties with an international community of like-minds – especially those in the burgeoning US dance renaissance – as well as the flourishing Dutch scene, took precedence. This rich heritage resonates on Sonic Transmutations. From the insistently infectious ‘Get to It’ by Detroit In Effect, a longstanding Clone mainstay, to the tripped-out melodies of Legowelt, the pioneering West Coast producer, the record pays tribute to a thriving network of DIY creativity that has transgressed epochs. 
 
Raw and rugged, Rotterdam’s own Lenson delivers a homage to underground parties in the harbour city, concocting a potent warehouse stomper, while Mr. Ho unleashes a transfixing techno-poem featuring artist and spiritual teacher Gedvile Bunikyte. The latter half of Sonic Transmutations switches into a darker, nocturnal mode, oscillating with peak-time club momentum. Built around a swing beat, Finland 's Aleksi Perälä, A.K.A ovuca, dexterously moves between light and shadow, preceded by PRZ’s new wave-flavoured ‘It’s Time’. Crescendoing with epic sibilance, Sansibar collides heavy-duty bass with psychedelic, echoing vocals on ‘Connect’ before Panorama Bar resident Steffi’s ‘50 Heads’, a stuttering rhythmic workout, closes off.

This was probably the first electronic track I tried to take seriously. I was super proud of it when I was done. Since then, I've learned more about mixing and whatnot so it's worth a good deal more of that pride now. This was also the first song of mine that I developed with a concept in mind: A WW1 soldier learns he is a ghost in a haunted battle simulator. Or something like that.
