I gave this homily on April 19, 2016: Tuesday of the 4th Week of Easter; Ordinary form of the Roman Catholic Mass; 8:00 AM Tuesday Mass at St. John's in Rapids City.  We Catholics have been called many names: Cat Lickers; Fish Eaters; Mackerel Snappers; Papists; Idol Worshipers.  Derogatory name call is not a new thing.  We were first called "Christians" in Antioch, which some scripture scholars think this was a derogatory name given to us by our ancient enemies.  For more details, you will have to listen to this recording.  Attached to this recording is a photo reminding us that the name "Nazarene" is making a comeback.  

Name Calling

It's amazing to contemplate the sight of the crowds gathering to welcome Jesus into Jerusalem with palms in hand and chants of Hosanna.  Then after a few debates with the high priests, the scribes, and pharisees; and overturning the money changers tables, the same crowds start yelling, "Crucify Him".   The crowds are fascinating to watch during Passion week.  But there is also a danger to crowd mentality.  As Charles Mackay once said, "Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, one by one."  The crowd mentality can throw logic, reason, and morality out the window and is dangerous.  In the homily I talk about how "the crowd" still attacks God today and why we need to beware of the crowd.

I gave this homily on March 31, 2018 at the Easter Vigil: ordinary form of the Roman Catholic Mass; 8:00 PM Saturday Mass at St. John's in Rapids City. Easter Sunday is the Christian Passover. It’s the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus.  And lo and behold, Easter Sunday lands on April 1st this year, which is April Fool’s Day.  I want to assure you that the empty tomb is not some big April Fool’s Day joke.  The resurrection actually happened.   When Jesus left that tomb he never went back, and we left with him. The Direction of Our Parishes II: What the Lord is Asking of Our Parishes

I gave this homily on June 8, 2018: Readings proper to the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus; Ordinary form of the Roman Catholic Mass; 8:00 AM Friday Mass at St. John's in Rapids City.   In Kentucky, they built a life size version of Noah's Ark. At least to the specifications that are stipulated in the bible story. You can go down there and take of tour of it. But you don't have to go to Kentucky, because we have the new Ark of the Church in the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  As part of the 40 Hours of Divine Mercy that begins June 19th, the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available every day.  We will have several priests hearing confessions at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 24th, an hour before the closing ceremony with Msgr. Swetland.  Confession helps to remove the spiritual blockages to our own hearts, so that we can receive all the graces that Jesus wants to give us that flows from his Sacred Heart.

Today as we celebrate the first Sunday of Advent, we are reminded that Jesus came once before and He will come again.  And that as we are preparing for Christmas, a remembrance of His first coming, why we should on a daily basis prepare for His second coming.  Today we are also reminded that God made a promise to His people Israel in today's first reading from Isaiah and that Jesus was the fulfillment of that promise.  So today as we begin Advent I focus on God keeping His promises and in the homily I also include a true story from Matthew Kelly's book, "Rediscovering Catholicism" about the underground Catholic Church.  Happy Advent everyone!

Lello Fusco is a Naples based talented producer and DJ who spent his last 15 years in the studio and the DJ booth. Now he makes his first appearance on Camel Riders with 'Mystic Vocation EP' that contains 3 originals tracks and 3 remixes. The first two tracks, Banda Elettronica #1 and #2, are a beautiful trippy journey full of percussion, hypnotic melodies and organic sounds separated into two parts. The 3rd track is the theme track of the EP - 'Mystic Vocation', a perfect mixture of relaxing ethnic sounds and semi darkish leads. 
The remixes are also coming from new members of our family, first is Rosé Sunset who deliver a fresh version of Banda Elettronica #1 by using his mesmerizing guitar riffs. 2nd is ZebraCak3 who brings his congas and tropical Cuban flavour to Banda Elettronica #2. Last but definitely not least is Don Son who lends his pumpier groovy approach to 'Mystic Vocation'.
