Last Friday 26th of August I had the big pleasure to play at one of my favorites and renowned underground clubs from our beloved city, Barcelona. 

A real dream came true, close to lots of friends and with a previous event at Bridge 48 all together with the "We funked it up" and "Time Lapse" families, and curated by Mags Trimarchi, Ivo Mele, Andreu, Uzo, Alvaro Camacho and Mar.C. 

It was such a great feeling to play a techno warm up set, opening the night for big friends and mentors from the music industry like Belmont and Lega aka No Intellectual Property with an epic closing of  Andromeda. Getting my friends in the trancey mood for my birthday was unique.

Hello 👋 and welcome once again to the Depth Perception Sessions, home of all things deep and delicious.

This week we welcome Dutchman Marc de Koning to the show to take care of Episode #81.

Bio:

His music style varies from deep and energetic house to underground progressive tech house. With this deep love & appreciation of house music, he began to produce his own music.

In 2014 his music career took a turn for the better when Dimitri Kneppers, the pioneer of house music in the Netherlands began to incorporate Marc’s music into his sets.

2014 brought another DJ blessing into the mix for Marc met Luke Santos, a well loved & talented DJ from Argentina who now lives in Amsterdam. They clicked and have been pro ducing music together ever since.

Marc de Koning is presently a resident DJ at RLGC44 (Recycle Lounge Gallery Club) in Amsterdam.

This week we have a special treat with a guest and friend who’s been rising steadily in our sister city a couple of hours east.

Montreal-based DJ and producer, @jaresmusic' inspiration comes from a firm belief that deep progressive sonorities, combined with a detailing beat, can produce an inner state of euphoria and mindfulness.

His style blends ethereal, orchestral and progressive sounds that explore the deeper shades of the musical spectrum. These original sounds and textures enabled him to share his work on labels such as Katermukke, UV, Beatfreak, Deep Tales, Steyoyoke, Natura Viva, Harabe and Freegrant Music.

Jares got the chance to showcase his sounds in Canada's finest clubs including the world-renowned Stereo Afterhours, as well as playing alongside legends like Hannes Bieger, Miss Monique, Soul Button, Henry Saiz and Dosem.

Bio:
Marçal Prats is a newcomer Dj and producer. Originally from Barcelona, he is based in London following his endless aim for achieving new creative challenges. In addition to his productions and mixes, he is an established graphic designer and enthusiast photographer.

On 14th July 2023, Marçal releases his latest production, 'Fascinated' paying homage to the iconic 1987 freestyle disco hit by 'Company B', Marçal has infused "Fascinated" with a modern twist, delivering a captivating dance anthem that will transport you to the golden era of dance music.

In 2002, Marçal Prats released his first techno-house remix of London singer and actress Linda John-Pierre's song 'Night People' by The Cat & Mr Cool. During the mixing and mastering process, he meets the prestigious DJ, producer, and radio host David Gausa (@davidgausa). Marçal began a long collaboration as a graphic designer for Gausa's brand-new house music label, Sutil Records (@sutilrecords-sutilvox).

Marçal started his interest in electronic music in the 80s, fascinated by High-Energy, Italo-Dance, and its hypnotic arpeggiated baselines. He was soon seduced by the birth of House Music and the crunchy 303 analogue sounds of Acid-House. In the mid-90s, during his first visit to London, he was again seduced by Drum&Bass, Big Beat, and IDM. In the first half of the 2000s, Deep Progressive House became his favourite electronic choice. Marçal continues combining his role as a designer with his devotion to music. As he works on new productions, he has released a series of DJ mixes where he brings together the tracks that have influenced him since the turn of the century.
