Adopted Berliner hailing originally from the US, Kyle Geiger is not just an experienced DJ and producer, having already released on staple techno imprints Soma, Perc Trax and Droid, but also a budding production teacher via his Twitch livestream started during the first lockdown of 2020. When he’s not sharing knowledge about DAWs and shedding light on diverse voices in the music scenes, he also runs his labels Cubero and Front Left. Across three techno excursions, collectively dubbed 'Bellhouse' and numbered 1 to 3, Kyle uses recurrent themes and motifs to craft intricate techno rollers in different forms. 'Bellhouse 1' stands out as a peak time dancefloor track, complete with heavy-hitting percussion, a dramatic lead
and scintillating hi hats. 'Bellhouse 2' on the other hand comes off as a more subtle, restrained groove, whose nervousness can keep the energy high, while the third track can be found more on the dubby side, with metallic synths and mechanical whirs atop a steadily evolving marching bass. Hosts Rebar take on 'Bellhouse 2' giving it their own spin - distilling its fidgety atmosphere into a more anchored, mind-bending slow burner.

"Tash’s Movement Recordings welcomes Fractal Architect back to the label for a new EP. Hailing from the UK, Daniel Watts aka Fractal Architect made his debut on the Greek imprint in August of last year. Backed by remixes from JOBE and Mashk, the ‘Hideaway’ EP was well received, making for a hugely memorable first appearance on the Greek imprint. Also calling Dear Deer, ICONYC and Steyoyoke home, Fractal Architect now lands back on Movement with ‘Not Going Back’.

Spread across three tracks it’s the progressive techno sounds of the title selection which get the EP underway. Dark and mysterious from the outset it’s punchy low end and rippling rhythms provide momentous drive, while wispy effects and haunting atmospheres fill in the framework. A lively arp adds further bounce to the groove, before a short but timely break resets the narrative for an emotive finale.

The second selection ‘Solitude’ surveys a similar design profile but with a further lean into melodic techno territory. Beginning with a stripped yet punchy groove, the piece evolves with emerging arps and detailed percussion carrying into the main break. Wispy effects and poignant fragments make for a heartfelt interlude, before smoothly segueing into a heavenly final movement.

The third and final original ‘Any Other Day’ finds Fractal Architect flexing the electronica side of his studio repertoire. Smooth, elegant and a touch melancholic, it’s an incredibly charming six-minute journey. Broken beats provide the foundation, while cascading tones marry hazy swells and unique artefacts, before elegantly peaking and getting washed away in a trail of exquisite sonics. It rounds out an inspired collection of music from Fractal Architect, making for an excellent return to Movement Recordings.

After the 2019 launch of The Gardens of Babylon’s record label we find ourselves in a very different world. Last year’s compilation was a musical snapshot of a physical festival experience with contributions coming from those who were there. This year, the compilation assumes a different role – a sonic journey through the times, memories, and loved ones we miss, as well as a sense of comfort as we look to reunite on a dancefloor somewhere around the world...

‘The Monastery’ 2020 draws contributions from friends and family, developing its narrative from the opening percussion of Menachem 26’s ‘Kumkapi Blues’ through the closing euphoria of Glauco di Mambro’s ‘Solar Safari’. Along the way, each track reads as a different chapter, transporting listeners to the sea of smiles that make up The Monastery Festival Experience. These chapters break down the weekend, encapsulating the emotions of its many facets, locations, and feelings. With ‘Light On The Road,’ Ali Farahani sets palpable anticipation, leading into the jazzy breaks of Gorje Hewek's ‘Der Geist Seiner Zeit’. Then, Maga’s delicately brooding ‘Muzike’ (feat. Arc) makes way for the gently rising piano of Parallell’s ‘Everybody Knows’. By the time, Derun’s ‘Los Caminos de Sirkedji’ hits, things start getting twisty, day turns to night, and ‘The Monastery’ is in full swing. From here, Amine K, Niko Schwind, Noraj Cue & unders, Dauw, Madmotormiquel, and Headwaters expand consciousness through mythical, hypnotic offerings – some low slung, some deep, dark, and driving. This is where resident VANDER’s ‘Can’t Get No Sleep’ drops and sums up the experience perfectly, interjecting fresh funk into groovy percussion, before giving way to after-hour vibes courtesy of KRAUT, Franca, and Sound Shapes...

Both Habibis have a creative mindset. When Mamoon visited Berlin, booth had the intention to make a track together. The text is of the original فريوز الشلبية البنت) The young gild Fayrouz), is a Arabic folk love song.

The love is seen in our eyes, in the description of a moment of seeing each other in an inner moment. Together we made a reinterpretation. This Track is a manifest of our friendship.
