The last 12 months has been incredible for Stranjah with last summer’s Wolfman EP, appearances on Hospital, Technique, and recently a prominent feature on Critical Music’s Binary:Codes LP which has set this Canadian’s drum & bass career in stone.  If his last full-length ‘Visionz of a Future’ was a precursor to a new Stranjah sound, then this debut release on his new imprint Deviant Audio makes certain that the bass prodigy is here to stay.
 
The Don’t Talk EP is a 4-tracker of moody, bass-heavy rollers.  The release is an evolution of Stranjah’s signature combination of throttling basslines and razor-tight drum programming.  It’s like a new and enhanced model of Stranjah for 2017.
 
The title track ‘Don’t Talk’ features Tony Ranks from King of the Dot lyrical fame.  The track opens up with Southern Hip-Hop style synths and Ranks coming in with a fierce lyrical stance.  Then it builds and drops into a super-tight 808 snare roll with a rumbling dub bass, while its vocal-snip lead blends the line between jungle, drum & bass and hip-hop.
  
Opening with ghostly pads, the aptly named ‘Phantom’ builds and switches up with a oldschool break fill only to drop into a gnarly neuro-esque bassline over-top a dancehall rhythm.  The track builds with festival-pleasing atmospherics and a moody steel-pan rhythm taking the listener through a journey in this futuristic banger.

The dark thematic strings in ‘Crusader’ set the tone right as a distorted vocal filters in.  The tune  drops into a quirky percussion-line topped with a half-step beat and a growling wobbling bassline.  The THX-screen-opening inspired riser builds the track up for a pounding second drop.  This one seems to go down well every time it’s been dropped on a system.
 
‘Clutch’ is a dark industrial rufige track featuring a rising name from Berlin, Germany going by Survey.  The dark, thumping style of drum & bass is firmly executed on this collaboration, and you can hear it is a perfect amalgamation of the two teams with its deep dark sonics blended with its retrospective jungle breaks.
 
This is a strong debut for Deviant Audio, with heavy tracks and no filler.  Stay tuned for more bass changers from this promising label set to push the envelope of bass-oriented music with rising talented and established names in the game.

This single led by ‘With You’ by Skeptical, Safire, Morph & DRS – emotive, modern soul music driven by DRS vocals infused with sculpted drums that punch deep, finely tuned tonalies and atmospheres that make you feel what soulful drum and bass lovers yearn. This track is an instant classic that won’t be forgotten in the stream of modern content, you hear each artists influence within each element of the production which has been intertwined harmoniously.

Following with you is ‘set the bar’ bringing influences of Jazz and Soul to a 174bpm track. Kicking off half time giving the sense of a warm comfortable Jazz bar with swaggy laid back vocals from DRS and refined sophisticated elements from Zed bias that builds into a summer smasher, fusing technical production and rolling drums with musical elements, this trackhas already been surprising dance floors from south to northern hemispheres.

This single could be one of the genre’s biggest of 2019 resonating with music lovers that take influences from a wide periscope of genres.

As a producer, DJ and label owner Charlie Fieber continues to be an important figure in the development and innovation of UK electronic music genres with a career spanning over two decades. As Fracture, Fieber’s output is prolific and never stands still. From the hyper sped up Techno sound of Turbo to the genre blending Footwork Jungle collaborations with Teklife regulars DJ Earl, DJ Spinn and DJ Taso. He is constantly experimenting and flipping the script and 2022 saw the release of the world building Ambient Electro album Omura with Sam Binga. Releases and affiliations have come from some of the UK’s legendary hardcore continuum labels such as Goldie’s Metalheadz, dBridge’s Exit records, where in 2016 Fieber was part of the mysterious Richie Brains supergroup with fellow experimenters Alix Perez, Chimpo, Fixate, Om Unit, Sam Binga and Stray, and more recently with Alix Perez’s 1985 which saw the curveball collaboration with Kenyan artist Nah Eeto. Fieber’s latest work is his most ambitious to date; '0860’ is an album, radio station and interview series that explores the history and legacy of Pirate Radio and its importance in the development of UK underground music.
As a DJ his sound has travelled with appearances on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Boiler Room, Fact Mag, Rinse FM, Keep Hush and multiple US, EU, UK and Asia tours. 
In 2009 the label, Astrophonica, was set up as an output for his own music with Neptune and has since become a home for other like minded and experimental artists such as Sully, Client_03 and Moresounds. Fieber’s impeccable A&R has led to a flawless and in demand back catalogue championed from Annie Mac to Sherelle and with multiple nominations in DJ Mag’s Best Of British awards.
