When I think about the early Pirate Radio days in London my hairs stand on end and I get a lump in my throat. Honestly, I owe everything to these people. They’re a massive reason why I’m here doing what I do and to work on a project that reflects this, fills me with joy. There were a few moments I had to pinch myself when sitting down and speaking with some of the guests - particularly Bryan Gee - about their experiences and stories. Many thanks to everyone who made this possible.

Manchester artists KinKai and Akemi Fox join forces with Amsterdam's Lenzman, releasing two remixes to raise money and awareness for Black Minds Matter UK and Justice for Shukri Abdi on the 19th of June, joining Bandcamp in their Juneteenth campaign.

Released exclusively via The North Quarter's Bandcamp all profit for Lenzman's remixes of KinKai's “Plantain & Champagne (feat. Saffron Grace) and Akemi Fox's “Fallin” will go to these UK charities, one of which is making mental health topics relevant and accessible for all black people in the UK, while the other is seeking justice for the tragic death of 12 year old Shukri Abdi. Black lives matter, black lives have always mattered. It's time for change. If not now, then when.

I spent time scratch building sounds using the Cloud Terrarium E352 oscillator, Behringer MS1, U-He Diva, Korg Monopoly and more, as well as going through my tracks and puling out some key sounds. All of these sounds have then been treated with external analogue gear including Mackie desk, Drawmer 1978 Compressor, Dave Smith Character module and Dave Smith filter to give them a unique sound. Drums, Breaks, Percussion Loops, Bass, Pads, Rave Stabs and more.

As a producer, DJ and label owner Charlie Fieber continues to be an important figure in the development and innovation of UK electronic music genres with a career spanning over two decades. As Fracture, Fieber’s output is prolific and never stands still. From the hyper sped up Techno sound of Turbo to the genre blending Footwork Jungle collaborations with Teklife regulars DJ Earl, DJ Spinn and DJ Taso. He is constantly experimenting and flipping the script and 2022 saw the release of the world building Ambient Electro album Omura with Sam Binga. Releases and affiliations have come from some of the UK’s legendary hardcore continuum labels such as Goldie’s Metalheadz, dBridge’s Exit records, where in 2016 Fieber was part of the mysterious Richie Brains supergroup with fellow experimenters Alix Perez, Chimpo, Fixate, Om Unit, Sam Binga and Stray, and more recently with Alix Perez’s 1985 which saw the curveball collaboration with Kenyan artist Nah Eeto. Fieber’s latest work is his most ambitious to date; '0860’ is an album, radio station and interview series that explores the history and legacy of Pirate Radio and its importance in the development of UK underground music.
As a DJ his sound has travelled with appearances on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Boiler Room, Fact Mag, Rinse FM, Keep Hush and multiple US, EU, UK and Asia tours. 
In 2009 the label, Astrophonica, was set up as an output for his own music with Neptune and has since become a home for other like minded and experimental artists such as Sully, Client_03 and Moresounds. Fieber’s impeccable A&R has led to a flawless and in demand back catalogue championed from Annie Mac to Sherelle and with multiple nominations in DJ Mag’s Best Of British awards.
