Brighton-born lyricist Bigredcap links up with producers J-Trick and Autokraft for a spirited grime meets bass house single “House of Grime.” The track is packaged alongside 5 genre-spanning remixes including WiDE AWAKE’s  frenetic trap remake and Fracture’s gritty drum & bass remix. R3LL brings the tune across the Atlantic for a souped up Jersey Club rendition, while Taiki Nulight and CORRUPT round out the release with their sinister takes on UK-bred bass house and bassline, respectively.

J-Trick & Autokraft - House of Grime (feat. Bigredcap) [Fracture Remix]

A debutant on the 1Forty imprint that we felt just had to be showcased. One of his more grimey productions from the 22 year old producer is ‘Hydrocity’.

With releases previously on Wile Out, Project Allout Records & Electrikal Records the young Glaswegian has amassed support from fellow Scots - Polonis & Rapture 4D as well as Spooky and refix master Gundam. With opportunities few and far between north of the border until more recently for grime music in Scotland, Casement has paved his way into the scene through playing at the likes of Stereo, Broadcast, King Tuts, Kelburn Festival & Woodlands Festival whilst honing his sound in the studio for the past 5 years. With Polonis & Rapture putting the scene firmly on the map since the Red Bull Beetroots Project it’s great to see more producers coming through from the north with such a unique take on Grime music.

Casements interests go much further than just grime when it comes to underground genres as he is recognised also for his UK Funky creations which have been supported by Murder He Wrote amongst other DJ’s on Radar Radio. 2018 is looking to be the breakout year for the versatile producer with other plans in the pipeline already in place with another Label all to be revealed later this year.

Aufect's Sigrah and Tar affiliate Norfik give us dance floor therapy with their "Alley of Mirrors" single off Sigrah's forthcoming LP 'This is Letting Go.' The journey starts with brooding bass that leads the way to Classic jungle breaks soaring over uplifting euphoric chords as a vocal sample speaks to us about self-reflection. This is Letting Go is the debut full-length album from North American artist, Sigrah. Primarily known for his depth and range in sound palettes and musical styles, Sigrah often creates remarkably unique moods and feelings within his music. 1 part shoe-gaze, 1 part jungle, 1 part
dissonance, and 3 parts energy is the recipe. This record is certainly all of those, and you can truly feel that Sigrah has poured his all into this body of work.
Prior to this LP, Sigrah has mostly soldiered in the trenches of the bass music ethos ala halftime Drum & Bass, Jungle, and dubstep, and has seen support along the way from genre figureheads such as Om Unit & Fracture, selectors like The Librarian, and even arena-fillingartists such as Bassnectar. Bristolian Stephen Redmore, known through his drum & bass alias Mako, is finally set to unleash his forthcoming LP on Metalheadz, something which he’s been working on behind the scenes for some time. The label head of Utopia is well known for his slick production and penchant for underground anthems, something which has been seen again and again on his own imprint, as well as across a plethora of labels which have acted as pillars for the drum & bass world. Having already made his presence felt before within the catalogue of Metalheadz, as well as Break’s Symmetry Recordings, Dispatch, Soul:R and Samurai Music, he’s a valuable part of the genre’s make up, which is why the announcement of his forthcoming LP ignited widespread anticipation.

Directly translated to ‘a body of art’, Mako’s LP ‘Oeuvre’ is representative of his life’s work in music production. The switching breaks of ‘Heartstone’, slamming, yet eerily hollowed snares of ‘Offline’ and grinding bassline of ‘Life Cycle’ alongside the late Andy Skopes, a testament to the legacy he left behind, set the tone. Meanwhile, Villem and Fields join Mako for the LP’s next collaboration ‘Liquid Groover’ before the emotive swelling build of ‘The Window’ gives way to a second drop beat switch up, continuing the journey. ‘Flip it’ has already been doing the club rounds, as the moody Photek atmospherics of ‘One Reality’ and more affectional twists of ‘Holding You’ adds to the tracklist’s versatility.

‘The Scenic Values’ underscores Mako’s love of Krust and Doc Scott production grooves, whilst the experimental soundscape of ‘Hoxton Home’ heralds back to old Lemon D. ‘Oh Really’ finishes the album’s more club-orientated offerings, which follows with a 170bpm techno style track via ‘Passive Aggressor’. ‘Oeuvre’ is a walkthrough of Mako’s many personalities as a musician and it finds a welcome home within Metalheadz’s historic discography.

Doctor Jeep - Unreal

If you've been following Booms and Claps for a while, you're certainly familiar with both Andre Lira AKA Doctor Jeep and China-based imprint Unchained Recordings at this point. Although Andre is undoubtedly known for his range and multi-tempo excursions, ranging UK funky to techno to dubstep and grime to more umptempo "halftime DnB" sounds, his releases that could be considered traditional drum & bass are rare in the grand scheme of his vast discography. That being said, you would never guess he's not a seasoned DnB veteran from the expert vision and production of his three-tracker entitled "Unreal EP," forthcoming on Unchained on Friday, April 10th, 2020.

Today's premiere comes in the form of "Angel VIP," a contemporary DnB revisit to his 2014 club-rattling 130bpm anthem "Angel." The original tune was released on the now defunct Trouble & Bass (RIP) and has been known for years as one of Doctor Jeep's standout productions. The VIP version you hear today creates an entirely new shell to carry the always-notable buzzing melody into 2020. Check it out above, and be sure to cop the full release when it drops on 4/10/2020.

As a producer, DJ and label owner Charlie Fieber continues to be an important figure in the development and innovation of UK electronic music genres with a career spanning over two decades. As Fracture, Fieber’s output is prolific and never stands still. From the hyper sped up Techno sound of Turbo to the genre blending Footwork Jungle collaborations with Teklife regulars DJ Earl, DJ Spinn and DJ Taso. He is constantly experimenting and flipping the script and 2022 saw the release of the world building Ambient Electro album Omura with Sam Binga. Releases and affiliations have come from some of the UK’s legendary hardcore continuum labels such as Goldie’s Metalheadz, dBridge’s Exit records, where in 2016 Fieber was part of the mysterious Richie Brains supergroup with fellow experimenters Alix Perez, Chimpo, Fixate, Om Unit, Sam Binga and Stray, and more recently with Alix Perez’s 1985 which saw the curveball collaboration with Kenyan artist Nah Eeto. Fieber’s latest work is his most ambitious to date; '0860’ is an album, radio station and interview series that explores the history and legacy of Pirate Radio and its importance in the development of UK underground music.
As a DJ his sound has travelled with appearances on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Boiler Room, Fact Mag, Rinse FM, Keep Hush and multiple US, EU, UK and Asia tours. 
In 2009 the label, Astrophonica, was set up as an output for his own music with Neptune and has since become a home for other like minded and experimental artists such as Sully, Client_03 and Moresounds. Fieber’s impeccable A&R has led to a flawless and in demand back catalogue championed from Annie Mac to Sherelle and with multiple nominations in DJ Mag’s Best Of British awards.
