Any artist is welcome to send us a track via freshonthenet.co.uk anytime between Monday lunchtime and Wednesday evening (or when we receive 200 submissions, whichever is sooner) - and all our moderators, including Tom Robinson, will listen to every track. This is our full inbox from the week beginning Mon 2nd May: from Friday afternoon you'll be able to hear our shortlist and pick your favourites on this week's Listening Post which will appear at freshonthenet.co.uk/batch445

If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. 

We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud Go tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which cannot be included in playlists. You will be able to resubmit the track in future. Tracks (and remixes of tracks) that have been previously submitted, and tracks from banned artists will also be removed.

Summer 2025 Discoveries.

Many people simply want to hear and enjoy some great new music without having to waste time searching for hours. These Musical Discoveries collections aim to fulfil those needs. At least, we hope so! :)

This playlist is a compilation of the favourite musical discoveries of the Wud Records team from everything they heard at SoundCloud during May, June and July 2025.

Tracks have been arranged according to the number of plays at the moment of publishing, starting with the fewest. Tracks that are early in playlists tend to receive more plays than later tracks, and we feel that the ones with fewer plays need the best chance of exposure.

Why not promote your track on social media and watch it overtake the play counts on later tracks? Now there's a challenge!

These compilations used to be monthly, but with the algorithms becoming ever more squeezed, fewer people are finding and listening to them now. This playlist is extremely eclectic, so if the track you are playing isn't quite doing it for you, try the next one. It will probably be completely different.

Buy something from them and your support will help them to keep going. Doing any of this will help raise their profile. At the very least you might make their day. :)

Sharing is very, very important !!

Sharing is a massive help for independent artists. They don’t have big corporations and mainstream media saturating every channel with their product. Every independent share counts.

Giving something a ‘like’ is nice, but sharing exposes the artist to your followers. This means that anybody in your community can see and click on what you shared. They can potentially enjoy it as well. It enables somebody new to discover the artist and become their newest fan. You create the chance for that to happen.

If you happen to be on this playlist, please share, and give us a shoutout on your social media feeds - because if we spot it, it gives us another opportunity to repost you and big you up. Please listen to as many tracks by the other great bands as you can - at the very least the one before yours, yours, and the one after yours, to hear how you stack up - and... enjoy!

„Nigel The Gannet“ by The Burning Hell

The Burning Hell preview the upcoming and highly anticipated opus/epic Garbage Island with a sweet-hearted examination of the life of an individual in society, a world filled with good intentions but inevitable misunderstandings. 

It just so happens that it’s the story of a bird: Nigel The Gannet. 

(Nigel the Gannet is the true story of a gannet in New Zealand, who briefly became an international media star when he died of old age next to the concrete decoy gannet he had chosen as his mate. Though the press spun his story as a lonely one, the band takes a different perspective:)

Gently referencing XTC’s own Making Plans for Nigel, but trading the capitalist alienation and dread for a warmer new wave of synth hooks and programmed swing, The Burning Hell celebrate the loner, the non-conformist, and a life on the edge, aware of the difference between being lonely and being alone.

The animated video for the song was done by Ariel Sharratt, who says: "Ultimately, as a smallish band if there's something we want to do, we usually have to do it ourselves. That was the case for this video, where I learned some basics of animation and then taught myself on the job. This was my first animation project, and I absolutely loved the process of creating a world for Nigel to navigate -- a world that's like ours: full of incredible beauty, colossal waste and destruction, and hopefully some sort of happy ending."

North Wales Psychedelic rock band 'Holy Coves' return with a brand new single 'Desert Storm' which is set for release on 29th of April via prolific North Wales Label 'Yr Wyddfa Records'.

Dropping swiftly into the slip-stream and following on from the successful 'The Hurt Within' which was released last month, 'Desert Storm' really sets the psych mood with droney riffs, hazy vocals on an epic musical landscape.

Lead by Welsh Singer-Songwriter Scott Marsden, 'Holy Coves' find themselves crossing an unseen threshold on a fantastical new journey where new psych-hazed material spells an exciting new era for the collective.

Through long time friend and Producer David Wrench, 'Holy Coves' were put in touch with Texan Producer Erik Wofford (The Black Angels / Explosions In The Sky) and have built quite a magical working relationship, one where Wofford found himself on Mixing and Mastering duties for the material and certainly contributes to their new sound.

Today, Chichester trio TRAAMS have shared a new track titled “Breathe”. The song is taken from their highly anticipated new album “personal best”, which is out 22nd July.

"personal best" marks the band's first full-length album since 2015's critically-acclaimed 'Modern Dancing', and comes hot on the heels of their recent highly acclaimed single 'Sleeper', which featured guest vocals from Soffie Viemose of Bella Union's Danish five-piece Lowly. 

The band recently announced their long-awaited return alongside a new single titled 'The Light At Night', which features Joe Casey of Protomartyr, and was accompanied by a new video co-directed by Charlotte Gosch & Lee Kiernan of IDLES. 

The new track “Breathe” arrives as a direct insight into the band’s musical evolution on the new record. Featuring guest vocals from Softlizard (the new project from Liza Violet of Menace Beach), the track sees propulsive and motorik bass gel with programmed beats, whilst warmly distorted, hook led guitar riffs grind alongside hypnotic vocals. This is all underpinned by subtle yet intricate synth lines and electronic manipulations, adding further nuance to their sound and perfectly exemplifying the new songwriting methods that were explored across “personal best”.
