"Bad Smell" is a stirring, mini-epic ballad that dives into the emotional complexities of a single mother grappling with love, desire, and disappointment, all while striving to provide stability for her child. In just under three minutes, the song moves seamlessly through layers of vulnerability and strength, wrapped in a melancholic soft rock sound. With echoes of early Radiohead and late '90s Manic Street Preachers, it brings a blend of major chord melancholy and emotional depth. Bad Smell

"Garden of Eden" was written in the thick of the pandemic, a time that stirred deep anxieties and expansive thoughts about humanity. Who are we? How did we get here? But ultimately, this track speaks to the art of letting go—letting go of ego, embracing existence, and just being. Musically, it's a thrilling fusion: hints of The Beatles and Queen merge with some funky syncopation inspired by Vulfpeck, but in the hands of Fragile Creatures, it becomes something fresh and unexpected. What started as a chaotic mix of ideas—musically and lyrically—has coalesced into a joyful romp, a song that defied our expectations of what would work.

"'Can You?' is the first track to be made available from Fragile Creatures self-produced, self-released Heart Beat EP. The EP drops on May 3rd, 'Can You?' is available for immeditate download now when you pre-order the EP from Bandcamp.

'Can You?' is inspired by diverse themes; from Kanye West's "I Am Picasso and Steve Jobs" rant, to Sofia Coppola's film The Bling Ring, and the treatment of the last Inca emperor, Atahualpa, at the hands of the conquistadores. It's a tongue-in-cheek critique of late capitalism's obsession with the validation that luxury items can bring.

Fragile Creatures found our previous music industry set-up frustrating, from a combination of bad luck and slow moving partners our debut album came out 2 years late, with no solid plans for the follow-up we had already written. We decided to become self-reliant: we taught ourselves to record on a shoestring and I went back to school, to study the industry at WaterBear college in Brighton. Heart Beat EP is our first experiment with being a self-releasing, DIY band. We hope you like it!" Adam Kidd

"Falling was written in the aftermath of the Grenfell Tower tragedy. I found myself questioning authority figures in our culture, and how they seem to constantly disappoint. The number of times concerns were reported about the building's safety before it burnt down are shocking. There's a feeling that the poor don't count any more, after nearly a decade of austerity. Cuts to public services, healthcare, policing, and more, have left us with a system that can't cope with the demand." Adam Kidd

Combining rock, grunge, pop and catchy melodies, Fragile Creatures evoke the spirit of great musical innovators of the past, from Bowie to Blur and beyond. Resistant to the formulaic, going wherever their musical muse takes them. Hot on the heels of this Spring's Heart Beat EP, the band are gearing up to release their second album Punk Yacht, with a series of self-recorded psych-pop singles.
