‘The Possibility of Loss’ is the eleventh Spheruleus album, a project that began back in 2009. It sees Harry depart his recent penchant for delicate pastoral sounds crafted from purer acoustic sources, in favour of a noisier drone based style. Clocking in at just over half an hour, the five recordings explore drone texture created from manipulated acoustic guitar recordings. These have been treated with tape delay effects and vintage techniques reminiscent of early Ambient material. The soundscapes are joined by layers of light noise, glitch, static and hiss made from treated field recordings. 

The Possibility of Loss was composed during a stay away from home whilst undertaking occupational training. Accompanied by only a laptop and guitar, Harry spent long evenings manipulating recordings to create flowing, meditative drone textures intended as an antidote to the fear of loss or of the unknown. It was followed by early morning trips to the Peak District where the bonus image photographs were taken. 

Spheruleus is the solo Experimental/Ambient moniker for UK artist Harry Towell. As well as recording beat-driven material as Magnofon, as part of The Frozen Vaults collective and one half of Paper Relics, Harry runs Warehouse Decay Recordings, Audio Gourmet and its sister label Tessellate Recordings.

In July last year we let loose our first excursion on vinyl, and from then on in it's been a crazy year. We're 3 EPs in now and we feel each one has been a huge step towards defining what has become the Tribal Pulse sound. We'll be doing more of the same in 2014, and we've got some recordings lined up that we feel are truly beautiful and unique.

However, we've been racking our brains to come up with an idea that'll shake things up a bit. With that in mind, we're proud to present "Tribal Pulse FOUR". Every fourth release from us will be a little bit different. These releases will be digital-only compilations where we'll introduce new artists into the family and expand a little genre-wise, releasing music that we love, but that wouldn't usually feature on the label.

We're delighted to be able to add 2 new artists to our family with the beginning of this new series. First up we welcome Glasgow-based ambient composer Fragile X. Here he records guitar parts to cassette, before stretching and cutting the tape many times over along with an array of effects to create "Sonder", a surreal soundscape that's brimming with colour.

Next up we have label stalwarts Boom Merchant and Acidulant. Boom Merchant brings the thumping rhythms of "Collage" to a crescendo of dense advancing basslines, funk-driven acid and gentle melodic sweeps.

Meanwhile, Acidulant's "x33345" carries listeners off into a melee of smart percussion work, intricate smears of 303 and sounds from outer space.

Last but not least we welcome Greek veteran producer Corvum. He recorded the first episode of our podcast series, and here he debuts on the label with 'Apoptygma', a dark mechanical techno monster. We loved the energy of this track, with it's dark throbs of distorted bass.

We hope you enjoy the experience of listening to these tracks as much as we've enjoyed discovering them.

It is FINALLY here! 

I have been wanting this pedal ever since Strymon unveiled it last year, and I can honestly say that it is without question a MUST HAVE for those of you who find that your pedalboard is rather naked without a decent reverb pedal.  Well let me tell you, this one puts them all to shame.  

Armed with one hell of a processor, 12 different reverb modes, and even a speaker cabinet emulator for those of you who (like me) record directly to their computers via USB instead of through a noisy amp and waking up your neighbors at 4am still trying to nail that solo :P

For this demo I focused on the "Bloom" setting, which makes a remarkable background underneath your guitar playing, padding your leads with incredible efficiency.
