On March 11, 2020 I laid down two new ideas. One became Carpe Diem Amicis, posted here on April 18.  https://soundcloud.com/gary-rees-since-87/carpe-diem-amicis The other idea sat idle for a couple of months before I fleshed it out. I finished it in August and decided to call it Carpe Noctem.  Not a companion piece by theme or style by any means.  It's definitely a darker piece featuring some unmelodic riffs you might say were siezed of the night.  It's my only SC posting so far that I've tagged Experimental.   I'd say "Enjoy" but I suspect a lot of you won't. ;-)

Compassio, from Latin, Compassion: sympathetic pity and concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others.

Eclecticism was first reported to have been practiced by a group of ancient Greek and Roman philosophers who attached themselves to no real system, but selected from existing philosophical beliefs those doctrines that seemed most reasonable to them. Out of this collected material they constructed their new system of philosophy.  The term eclecticism comes from the Greek ἐκλεκτικός (eklektikos), literally "choosing the best".  

The music of "Eklektikos" brings together the instruments and rhythms of many diverse cultures to create a unique world music.
