Wyrd (Previously Wavy Gravy) is the DJ/Production alias of Matt Oppermann from Stellenbosch, South Africa, After spending a decade immersing himself in the local electronic music scene, traversing multiple genres and subgenres and developing a listeners ear for the music, he found the genre's that called to him most in IDM, Glitch Hop, Drum n Bass and Psytrance.

Matt likes understated, nuanced elements in his music selections, blurring genre boundaries and finding niche tracks that incorporate unusual elements and sound design that would not be commonplace within the genre.

In 2011 attending to raves got me attracted by the darker sound of the psychedelia, right after, I had the need to seek for music that gets you in a deeper mental state and so I got obsessed with the Greekedelia. In 2012, I joined Fraktal Kaos Records, where I have collaborated in compiling music for the label. My DJ sets are a fusion from deep atmospheric landscapes, powerful baselines and captivating leads that wraps the listener in a deep psychedelic experience. No matter the BPM the concept will always be Darkpsy.

Our aim is to facilitate understanding, insight, and a deeper connection to both the cosmos and the self.
