I wrote this for the magical moment when day turns to night . .  the evening star appears  . . transition to the enchanted nighttime world of endless possibility.

Overcoming distance and solitude, Julia Gjertsen and Nico Rosenberg join from across the oceans for a tranquil new project. A precursor to their full EP on Moderna Records later this year, Los Océanos delivers an unmistakable quietude to prepare the mental palette for what is to come.

A sense of floating on waves under an illuminated night sky, being rocked to sleep by its gentle caress.

The two started collaborating online, bridging the 8,000 miles between Norway and Chile. Beginning as a MAX/MSP patch designed by Rosenberg, Gjertsen supplied layers of piano improvisations, before the result being recorded to tape at a slower pace, giving it its serene, dream-like quality.

I had this motif in my head that kept varying and transforming; I found it hard to end. The sentiment was one of love, acceptance and returning home, so I named it ‘Your Heart Carried Me Home’. This partly expresses the long journey I had through troubling times from repeated misdiagnoses of a brain tumor in my left inner ear canal which threatened my hearing. After a decade it was finally discovered last year. Pre-surgery the variations were minor but here it finally resolves with conviction.
