Igor Stravinsky: 3 movements from Petrushka - 2 Chez Petrouchka

When I first heard Lungi dance from the movie Chennai express, it's incredible peppy catchiness only meant one obvious thing - someone needed to make a Western classical remix version. Imagine frilly dresses, wigs, Austrian nobility and state-of-the-art Erode lungis. 

The Violin and Cello were recorded on the really impressive Yeti Blue microphone, which is so sensitive that if you listen really hard, you can occasionally hear the pigeon on my window sill making enquiries about the local availability of pretty single pigeonesses. 

In addition to the tracks I recorded on my instruments, some software layers were used to expand the soundscape to do justice to this most excellent song. 

Danse Macabre De Lungi

A suspenseful chase type song with strings, harp, English horn solo and violin solo, with a big string and brass build at the end.

String Quartet No. 3: I. Intro

This is an orchestral arrangement, I started right after my first string quartet in 2000. It is Beethoven's "Rondo a capriccio" or better known as "Rage Over a Lost Penny" / "Die Wuth über den verlornen Groschen" for solo piano. I had no time to finish it in 2000. But a month ago, I rediscovered it and sat down to finish it. This is the result. I hope you enjoy it. Any comments appreciated.

"Rage Over a Lost Penny" (1798 Beethoven / 1828 Diabelli, arr. 2000, 2012)

Chopin's second Ballade is at one moment eerily placid and another frighteningly catastrophic: imagine a quiet waterfront suddenly engulfed by a horrific storm. It eventually passes, leaving hope for renewal in the wake of its utter destruction and havoc.
