This work combined recording of acoustic instruments (violoncello and violin), synthesizer outputs and environmental sounds. My approach here is very close to anecdotal music: the sound sources became unimportant; they are merged together in a new context musically. The sounds left their original environments and meet in an unknown space.

Fireball is inspired by Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. The 1st gesture of the 3rd movement is a broken chord that rolls upwards and explodes into two sharp blocks of sound. This energy left me with an impression of a fireball.
The first part of the piece explores the image I had in mind on two levels. At the first level, a small fireball repeatedly soars into the sky and explodes, each time with increased energy. At the second level, all these repetitions form a single journey of one huge fireball. Its explosion leads us into the second part of the piece - a rave of fireworks. In the third part, a new and different power takes over – is it the moonlight?
Designed for Janus Ensemble, Fireball deals with restrained improvisation, patience, colors and energy.
