Returning to Exploited for another bite of the cherry, Italian duo gizA djs are back.
‘Something Cool’ blends elements of indie dance and nu disco in its loose, warm feel, with a dash of Italo disco attitude to boot. ‘80s synth pulses set the tone over live percussion and subtle bass, before a sultry male vocal adds more retro feel to the proceedings. Classic disco hi-hats drop in as the vocal switches from English to seductive Italian and big synth chords filter into focus. A sweet arpeggiated lead line thrusts into play as a Daft Punk-esque electric bassline funks away below. An unexpectedly wonky breakdown builds tension, setting us up for a colourful finale where the key elements morph and modulate in a beautiful fusion.

‘Rogue One’ is more of a brooding, atmospheric house affair, but one that comes with dashes of funk. Tribal percussion intersperses a turgid bass groove as mystical trumpet loops tease in and out of the mix. A discofied guitar lick bolsters an infectious, mysterious plucked melody, and imperceptibly the track builds intensity to a crescendo with eerie pads, heady reverbs, ride cymbals, urgent vocal chants and judicious use of FX.

NEAT return to Exploited with what might just be their strongest EP to date.

The title track features Swedish talent Storken, who has released on Running Back, and channels beautiful ‘80s Balearic vibes into its skippy house template. ‘80s electro bass funk leads the charge while wonky tape delays massage guitar chords and female vocal cuts into the distance. Bubbling synths subtly augment the central pillars of the track. The blissed-out breakdown makes for a stunning ambient / chillout interlude, allowing this glorious track to breathe and stretch out its arms.

‘What’s Up D?’ continues the retro theme, with diva house vocals cut up and set by turns against jaunty chime chords and a warped, nagging, pitch-bending synth hook. The ‘90s house percussion shuffles away with tinges of techno in its clap patterns and soft ride cymbals, while rubbery bass pulsates beneath. It’s a lean, punchy workout that flits between euphoria and heads-down intensity.

‘You Know What My Love’ rounds off the EP in beautiful style. The most gentle of the three tracks, its combination of stuttering vocal cut-ups, spine-tingling chord delays and succinct yet driving beat make for a dreamy experience. The breakdown is a stunning affair, where soaring pads float atop sensual melody and hypnotic FX, sunsets and lapping waves invoked by its heavenly sounds.

Feeling extremely excited and proud for giving continuity to KEENE and Kaleta's release'Ayessi', this time in collaboration with the internationally renowned music producer and composer Henrik Schwarz. It also includes an outstanding remix from one of our favourite artists 'Philou Louzolo', responsible for bridging the gap between afro diaspora sounds and House and Techno.

Henrik Schwarz came up with two versions in wonderfully colourful fashion, sunny vibes and a triumphant feel that completely envelops this production, with shimmering disco hi-hats bringing the rhythm urgency and subtle strings and blips filtering away in the bedrock of the composition. A buzzing synth bores a tunnel through the centre of the groove while perfectly blending with Kaleta's vocals. 

Philou Louzolo showed his prolific production skills in all its glory with each element carefully positioned to keep things energetic, laying the foundation of a dancefloor bomb. It features an array of warm arpeggios that adds bright colours to the mix, with driving afro percussion pushing the track along with a gentle sort of power. Kaleta's vocals and blasts from sprightful trumpets were efficiently used bringing tension to the mix.

If you thought the Kiwis were a friendly, genial bunch then think again, The Wild Army has gone down under to rob, steal, conquer and plunder. 

Max Maxwell's Always Right In goes in with some bouncing big room house made to be heard on a big rig. Squelching bass, spoken word, smooth production and a breakdown for peak time as the delayed synths wonk out. 

Marcos Alonso's remix ups the wobble and squelch but makes it a more heads-down affair. Proper nailed down, deep house music that delivers.

Nick Munday goes techno with acid bass, arpeggiated arps, MPC drums and a whole heap of machine soul. One for the heads, the dancers and the ravers.

Marcos' Piece Of The Puzzle is subterranean house music that wobbles, burbles and slides along, driven by rhythm guitar. Synth melodies, SFX vocal snippets and smooth production go late night. 

Paper artist Kennedy takes Piece of the Puzzle, keeping things low and slow but adding a bit of extra fizz. Warped vocals take things leftfield.

Lunar Disco @ Abracadabra Festival 1.0

A jack of all trades and a master of fun - Faffa's love for music was sparked at the age of 12 while learning to play the guitar and drums in his mother's studio. 

An Engineer by day and a DJ/Producer, often also by day, his journey into the world of electronic music began alongside his best friend as they formed the collaborative project called "Father." From their base in Stellenbosch, the duo rapidly made its way into all the nooks and crannies of the South African electronic music scene, where he has performed at multiple festivals, clubs, and bars.

He believes the beauty of electronic music lies in the vast diversity and endless possibilities, allowing artists to ignore conventional beliefs that conform them to becoming monotonous. Despite loving "nearly" all forms of electronic music, he has developed a signature Disco Tech, Indie Dance sound that draws inspiration from early disco records retrofitted with dreamy synth stabs and rolling basslines.

"Joy shared is multiplied" - R.A Salvatore. When you spot Faffa's name on a lineup, you can expect an emphasis on connectedness and intimacy with the crowd. Legend has it; he's even been found on the wrong side of the stage during his own set, don't tell the promoter.
