"Interdimensional" explores the paraphysical dimension of cosmic music. It completes the dilation process of his sound, which began with the albums "Silencers" and "Ancient Death Cults And Beliefs", which now form an ideal trilogy inspired by what is beyond the boundaries of science.

"Interdimensional" is inspired by the scientist Michio Kaku who theorized what could be the remote future of the human species; beyond matter, the stars, and known dimensions. A future that could lead us to the victory over the end of everything, beyond the foreseen and inevitable death of the universe known to us.

Also a cosmic record in terms of sound, "Interdimensional" is pervaded by a sense of stasis reminiscent of Thomas Köner's isolationist electronics, but still characterised by the use of electrified instruments, analogue synthesizers and recordings of resonant metal objects. Unlike the previous albums, however, the typical dark experimental / post industrial sound of Sonologyst is filtered through hazy warping reverberations and infinite delays, which musically depict the intergalactic journey of a civilization in search of a possible future beyond death.

From a series of experimentations I did in 1983-1986 on computer aided composition and timbre generation on the apple //e computer.

The first of the recordings made from the Applesoft Basic program "QUATRE.BAS". Recorded in 1984 on a Marantz PMD200 on BASF LH SM cassette. Converted to digital using a Marantz PMD201 straight into a Tascam DR40 at 24 bits. Some dropouts are happening at the beginning of the first track and I will try to redo the conversion using the original deck, once I've repaired it.

QUATRE.BAS will generate semi random (1/f) sequences of notes, while keeping them in the scale, and over a limited number of octaves. I had made it so it could generate between 8 notes and 8192 notes, at my control. I also controlled a sliding window of repetition.

- A 30 minute track (Derive Pentatonique Indienne) in a pentatonic Indian scale.

- Dérive Indienne Courte I (also a pentatonic Indian scale)

Roland Super JX 10 experimentation with patches to play lead of Europe's final countdown (and might add other songs / sound designs to this playlist)

First is the Roland JX8P factory patch #28 (Stab Brass), loaded onto the Roland Super JX10, through HD reverb on a Zoom 70CDR pedal, recorded on a Tascam digital recorder. Sounds a lot like the Final Countdown sound.

Next is Roland JX10 factory patch C6 (Stab Brass 8VA). This doesn't really sound like the previous, even taking into consideration an octave shift (8VA).

But, there is a Stab Brass TONE on the JX10. I combined this preset tone 72 with a custom tone set at tone 6 and this is really really close to the original JX8P stab brass plus Yamaha TX816 as used by Europe.

Finally, recorded the same patch dry. The reverb is half the sound.

Canadian Polyglot and polymath living in North Carolina, Francois is Head of Dion Research by day, & artist, maker of instruments & effects, musician, photographer & sound engineer by night.

His interest in music started at a very young age when he studied classical piano and electronics, both of these things would be quite influential on his future work.

He started composing electronic music as a kid in the early 80s and experimenting with sampling on an Apple //e, and would later use the Amiga, Apple IIgs and on the PC, the Gravis Ultrasound wavetable soundcard, and would publish soundbanks for it. Today, most of his music is done without computers, on modular synths and effects built by him, along with some commercial synths and effects.

From 1988 to 1997, he hosted a show on electronic music from its beginning in the early 20th century all the way to modern electronica, and the history of it and the technology that enabled it. He also did a stint at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and Videoway / Videotron in Montreal.

In parallel with that, he would continue releasing music through various media, including digital media before MP3 files (through MP2 and ADPCM WAV files on Hyperreal, IUMA etc). In those 30 years to now, he has produced an average of ~1 album (EP or full) a year
