One of the most promising newcomers around and known from releases on Bedrock and Aeon, italian born Francys presents his first EP for OFF.
Now based in Berlin, and already hauling an impressive back catalogue, Francys delivers five tracks filled with dancefloor goodness.
Opening up with “Elsewhere”, a catchy melodic deep techno cut, the track creates a tense yet sustainable build up by the way of ambient-ridden synths.
Title track “Komorebi” exerts a similar feeling, craftly layering grave synths peppered with high pitched acid-like bits.
Fellow Berliner and BLKRTZ label boss Deadbeat is the muscle behind the remix, bringing his well known penchant for timeless techno to the game. The reputed sound designer manages to inject more groove, turning “Komorebi” into a peak time contender.
“Pandora's Scream” rounds up the release, exposing a metallic ridden bassline, interspersed with eerie high pitched sounds.
Last up is “The Monk”, a dark and somber sonic exploration infused with mysterious, chant-resembling vocal pieces that give the track a ghoulish atmosphere.

I tried something in the way of " Valinka " using 80's basslines and synths and being influenced by Paul Kalkbrenner again
I called this track " Volga " because " Valinka " was very played in Russia and Ukraine so I hope you'll like this groovy tune too

Souvenir plus hits the year running with an extended EP from Italian housemeister Francys.
First up, ‘Trust Me’ is a mid-tempo mood piece, chunky chords bliss the melody out, while a panoply of percussive effects call out, like the varied sounds of a night time jungle as described by synth. Running through the sylvan scene, like a burbling stream is an ethereal voice beckoning one into various euphoric crescendos. ‘Silver’ is a slow burner, tight drum patterns and reversed vocal samples driving it forward. The dubbed out bassline gives the track a spaced out ambient feel, bringing to mind FSOL’s classic ‘Papua New Guinea’. Next up, shuffling beat and gurgling bleeps create a retro-futuristic feel, with ominous arpeggios ratcheting up the tension on ‘Solitude’. Rounding things off, ‘Water Woman’ spurts to attention, with some lovely keys, shimmering synth washes and brushed snare work. The track builds in to a barely sung vocal, adding to the Balearic Beat feel, one to watch the sun rise to maybe?

Biography:
Born and raised in a small city called Monopoli, situated in the South of Italy, Francys became captivated by the beauty of music at a very young age where he started to collect old vinyls and CDs.

As Francys grew older his love and passion for music grew and he spent more and more time practicing his DJ skills with turntables and an old mixer in his parents’ gloomy garage. One day his best friend gave him a software sequencer – a perfect toy for our Italian boy! From that day on, 14-year-old Francys began building his first beats and quickly whole tracks followed.

Across the years, influenced and inspired by artists like Michael Jackson, Queen, Simply Red, Depeche Mode, Phil Collins,The Cure, Eurythmics, Kraftwerk, Moby, Trentemøller, Fat Boy Slim, Mr. Oizo, Daft Punk, Carl Craig, Jeff Mills and many more, Francys developed his signature production style.

As you can imagine, it was just a matter of time before the right people took notice of Francys, and it wasn’t long before he had his first releases on labels including Resopal, Composite, Time Has Changed. In 2011 Francy released the “Crossing The White Line” EP on Russian imprint Highway which was remixed by 8bit’s Gorge.

The EP was championed by the likes of Steve Bug, DJ T, Guy J and “Crossing The White Line” was licenced by to John Digweed’s ‘Live In Cordoba’ compilation, released through his Bedrock label.

The follow up, entitled the “People EP” came with remixes from Nico Lahs, Ahmet Sisman and Berlin’s Alex Niggemann, who immediately offered him a release on his own label Soulfooled. No sooner said than done - “Lonely Road” was released and Francys became a part of the Soulfooled family. According to Alex, Francys is “one of the most promising newcomers these days” and went on to prove this by delivering a massive remix for Alex Niggemann’s ‘Paranoid Funk’ album, out on Poker Flat Recordings. Around this time Francys caught the attention of German duo Tiefschwarz, who signed his ‘Trust Me’ EP to their Souvenir label.

In mid 2013 Francys is back on Alex Niggemann’s new imprint AEON, delivering his haunting ‘Memories’ EP which includes a remix by Berlin mastermind and Upon You label boss, Marco Resmann. Niggemann describes the release as ‘definitely one of my 2013 top releases’.

The collaboration continues during 2015 with the new “Different Shapes” EP, supported by the most important artists of the scene, which “perfectly captures Francys's dark melodic techno sound”.
