sound. Their remix strips down the original, migrating through hypnotic synthesis, steadily building then fading

Monkey Safari’s third album comes in perfect time for the summer sunshine. The duo follow up their last LP, ‘Odyssey’, with this warm, inviting collection of music designed to brighten your day and complement the glorious sunny days that bless us during the summer.

Sven and Lars learned some valuable lessons from their last long-player, and the new album ‘HI’ comes from a far more relaxed, easy-going place. An organic project that came together quite naturally, their third album sees the duo in high spirits ready to bring a large dose of positive vibes and emotional depth to the party.

Kicking off with ‘Sturm’, we’re immediately immersed in a world of wistful vocals, haunting pads and emotive synth lines. This is music made to move your body and your soul. As an introduction to the album it’s ideal, providing a great juxtaposition between brooding melancholy and uplifting vibes.

Next up is ‘Parallel Lines’, a sombre yet inspiring cut that takes us deep into Monkey Safari’s world. The folk-esque vocals ride the instrumental, which stirs your emotions giving the listener chills up and down their spine. ‘Shangri La’ is a slow burner that wouldn’t feel out of place on the Playa at Burning Man. The sultry cut builds into a crescendo of emotive sounds with a break in proceedings leading into a spine-tingling drop.

Title track ‘HI’ truly embodies the sound of the album. One of those tunes that will resonate with audiences all over the world, the universal feeling of joy it transmits has already been lifting dance floors at festivals and clubs across the world as Sven and Lars have been roadtesting it in their sets for some time now.

‘Breed’ follows next, with a more downtempo pace allowing space for contemplation. The carefully programmed beats and chimes set a calm tone, encouraging a myriad of thoughts and feelings to rise to the surface. This one builds into cacophony of strings and keys, all delicately aligned to keep the atmosphere meditative. Next is ‘Red’, a more pulsating, insistent cut with a surefire dance floor vibe. Techno fans will be relishing this cut with its hypnotic riff and scintillating pad work.

‘New Day’ lives up to its title, evoking the feeling of those twilight hours when you’re leaving a club at dawn and the day is just beginning to get started. Monkey Safari slowly unveil the brighter side of this cut, in the same way the sun can creep up from the horizon to share its warm glow. ‘Shelter’ brings more emotional depth, with a mournful motif supporting the vocal clip. This one grows into a spinetingling affair with a breakdown that uses new wave-esque synth lines to really get you pumped with energy.

The penultimate track ‘Walls’ utilises a silky vocal once again to take us into a joyous zone. This is the kind of track that encourages you to get close to a loved one, share an intimate embrace and close your eyes as the vibrations take you to another dimension. Slow, seductive and soulful in equal measure.

Finally, ‘Love To Exist’ closes the album. A love-filled song produced with passion by the duo, who leave the listener on a high with this final cut. Kick back and soak up the warm vibes, listen to the words and fill your heart with love.

Fabled duo VIKTOR TALKING MACHINE offers the next Monaberry release. Their track LINE briefly brushes the club with a colorful groove, catchy claps, and sweaty breaks. Intense synth chords merge with hypnotic ethno-vocals into a rich track with a rousing vibe. Freeride Millenium head to St Petersburg and the Delicate Features duo for another excellent EP that follows previous great outings on the label.

This pair is made up of singer Radmila Nikogosian and composer Pavel Astvatsaturian and they have consistently put out music that grabs the imagination. Labels like Not Not Fun as well as Freeride Millenium have released their sounds and ensured the pair grow ever more prominent in the scene with their superbly emotional music that draws on ambient, abstract and downtempo.

Opening up the EP is ‘Brume’, a widescreen ambient masterpiece that has fluttering keys and gorgeous pads extending off to the horizon. The majestic ‘Because I Want To’ introduces gentle drums but the focal point again is the exquisite melody, deft keys and angelic vocals that bring heavenly feel.

The halfway point is marked by the super slow and heavy drums of ‘Nude’, a spacious dub cut with ambient beauty soothing your soul, then ‘Pulkovo Lights’ is an eight-minute journey into bumpy rhythms that feature more fantastic synth craft and grand composition. This most delightful of musical trips closes with the stunning melancholy of ‘Way Home’ which has vulnerable keys and acoustic guitars drifting in space.

This is timeless music that is beautifully crafted and is utterly absorbing from start to finish.

KOMPAKT welcomes back three dear friends – Copenhagen’s WhoMadeWho. Tomas Barfod’s penchant for electronic music poetically juxtaposed with Tomas Høffding and Jeppe Kjellberg’s respective backgrounds in rock and jazz, gives their music an electrifying combination of sounds, merging a variety of influences to produce a unique sonic fingerprint that is emotive, irresistible and immensely satisfying.

Though we both have yet to strike a note together since the release of their 2012 full length “Brighter” (KOM 254), WhoMadeWho have been remarkably productive. With two full lengths, a DJ mix for Watergate’s series and releasing two of 2019’s most played out club tracks together with Rampa (Innervisions) and Artbat (Watergate Records), the trio have found themselves diving more and more into the world of electronic music, tapping into their goldmine of connections within the scene to spearhead an array of collaborations.

The result is Synchronicity – a full length album to be released on November 13th.

The final chapter of our EP series is “Synchronicity III” – Kompakt’s fearless leader Michael Mayer joins forces with the trio to produce an outlandishly catchy house excursion. A throbbingly sexy groove twists around a nonsensically fun robo-disco vocal. Terr makes serious waves these days – from her exceptional releases on Phantasy, Correspondant, Permanent Vacation to released and operating own imprint Clash Lion they come up with “Falling Out” – an exclusive to this EP. This is the ultimate duet – her vocals harmonise with the band under flow with the perfect rhythm and beat of disco-fied refinement. Next up is Rebolledo – Mexico’s ambassador of dance floor devotion and one half of the legendary Pachanga Boys. A dear friend to the house of Kompakt. “Chaser” fuels those travellers of the night – a soundtrack for another dimension. Last but not least, fans will rejoice as Adana Twins return with a second collaboration together with the band. The clang of the cowbell is clear as a twisted guitar twangs to an ominous 4/4 rhythm.

FRANGIE is a musical organism assembled and rooted in Stockholm. The self-titled debut EP ”Frangie" was released in April 2018 and quickly got picked up by the refreshing electronic show P3 med Samir Yosufi on Swedish National radio and French music connoisseur Delicieuse Musique l Official Playlist. Later that year the song "Don’t Text Me" was featured on Spotify's playlist Metropolis. 

The debut took the band out of the studio and up on stage. From Amsterdam Dance Event to Skankaloss in Gagnef, Dalarna and further to the Nobel Prize After party. In May 2019, the sequel Rice & Beans came with a powerful disco sound, strongly rooted in modern dance music. Opening track "We Vibe" was played by Francois K on his show "World of Echoes" on Worldwide FM: "It feels as if this thing might just get picked up by some major brand on some advert and become a worldwide hit."

In the fall of 2018 FRANGIE teamed up with friends Bella Boo, Kimchii, Samo DJ and HK for The Remixes that gained support from artists like Blond:ish, Anja Schneider and Joris Voorn. Their latest release includes new remixes by exciting Swedish talent Storken, Tora Vinter and Parallax Deep, one native legend Joel Mull and Disco Don Eric Duncan - delivering a unique variety of minimal, techno and cosmic reworks.

The ‘Lunar Eclipse EP’ released on the independent Taiga Riveria, is the newest blood child of musical organism FRANGIE.
Dripping with effortless groove and summer nostalgia, the four-tracker contains an essential spark of connectivity felt when they planted the seed for the songs one summer night. The EP stands as an emblem of disco warmth in the deep mid-winter.
