Here's a cheeky mashup I did of the Original and MAW remix of Nuyorican Soul's iconic tune 'Black Gold Of The Sun'.

Whilst both versions are fantastic in their own right, neither of them fit within my set as well as I was hoping, with the MAW remix meandering a bit too long and the Original obviously lacking that Q-Tip vibe, so I decided to blend them together and make things a little more DJ friendly with a nice lead-in and outro.

Everyone who knows me knows just how much of an influence and inspiration Prince has been on me since I was a child, so this was a mix I had a lot of fun doing.
One of the biggest challenges was the fact that with almost 40 years in the game, over 40 albums and countless songs that he produced, arranged, composed, and performed, there were just too many songs to choose from! As he used to say "so many hits, so little time..."
But I was able to rise to the challenge, and I think whether you're a hardcore, diehard fan or someone with more than a casual interest in his music, there is something for everyone here. I tried to represent all eras of his career, mixing in hits, fan favorites, remixes, unreleased songs, and everything in between. Of course, I couldn't fit ALL the bangers in a 2 hour mix, so I'll have to do multiple Prince themed mixes in the future. But for now, I hope you enjoy this one and as always I appreciate the love, support, and the time taken to listen!

Inspired by the excellent documentary produced by Questlove (Sly Lives! aka The Burden of Black Genius), here is a tribute to Sly & The Family Stone that highlights Sly as not only a great bandleader and songwriter, but a producer as well. Features a mix of some of their best known songs, along with deep cuts, tracks by Graham Central Station, 6ix, Little Sister, and Sly's collaboration with Jesse Johnson. Of course this just scratches the surface of their awesome catalog and 2 hours definitely doesn't do them justice, but for anyone looking to see why Sly was one of the most important figures in music whose influence is still heard today, this is a great place to start!
