Love Is Just a Dream (Sultry Mix)

Lots of stuff going on here. 

Two guitars (one a new Tele Baritone, pictured here; the other a Strat) going into an Orange Amp. Amp mic'd up with SM57 to an SSL Mic Pre. In addition, a TLM103 was used as a room mic on these.

Then, two more guitars (Epiphone Les Pauls) using an impulse response on each (one being an AC30, the other a Fender Frontman). 

The lead guitar is the Strat using an impulse response (Cenzo Celestion V30).

Finally, the bass is going thru an Ampeg amp impulse response. 

Outboard gear: Mixbus thru an SSL Ultra Violet EQ and an Art Pro VLA II Compressor. Drum bus thru a Behringer MDX2600 compressor.

"Here is our cover of "Nature Boy" by Eden Ahbez published in 1947. The song tells a fantasy of a "strange enchanted boy... who wandered very far" only to learn that "the greatest thing... was just to love and be loved in return". 
Erin recorded her vocals FIRST a cappella and I then added the guitar accompaniment. Not the typical way that a recording is usually put together. Sort of like doing a waltz backwards! Because Erin sang this so beautifully and with perfect pitch, she inspired me to play along."

This was such a great surprise from Janie. I was not expecting anyone to play along, but I am very excited about this! Janie is an AMAZING musician, so this really is an honor to have her accompany me. (in backwards fashion!)

Let’s not mince words here. Trump is the embodiment of corruption, greed, and incompetence. He’s a bullsh*t artist. He’s a mutt who doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”* This isn’t just about politics—it’s about morality. It’s about standing up to a man who has no respect for the rule of law, no respect for the truth, and no respect for the American people.

Trump’s presidency was a disaster. He divided the country, emboldened hate, and failed to deliver on his promises. He’s a man who thrives on chaos, who lies with every breath, and who cares only about his own ego. As De Niro said: *“He’s a punk, he’s a dog, he’s a mutt. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He’s an idiot. He’s a fool.”* And yet, here we are, facing the possibility of him returning to power. We cannot let that happen. We cannot allow this man to continue to poison our democracy.

This is not just about Trump—it’s about the people who enable him. The sycophants, the cowards, and the opportunists who stand by his side and allow his corruption to flourish. They are just as guilty as he is. As De Niro said: *“They’re all scum. They’re all mutts. They don’t know what they’re talking about.”* We need to hold them accountable. We need to stand up and fight back.

The stakes are too high to sit on the sidelines. This is about the soul of our nation. It’s about protecting our democracy, our values, and our future. We cannot afford to let Trump and his enablers win. We must vote, we must organize, and we must make our voices heard. As De Niro said: *“We’re gonna fight back. We’re gonna fight back with everything we’ve got.”*

So let’s do this. Let’s come together and defeat Trump once and for all. Let’s show the world that we are better than this. That we will not tolerate corruption, lies, and hate. That we will stand up for what’s right. As De Niro said: *“We’re gonna win. We’re gonna win because we have to.”*

A Broken Boy Misses His Dog

Amateur songwriter/musician originally from Texas now living in Virginia thru parts of North Carolina. Don't ask.

My story:

I got somewhat into recording in the mid 80's briefly with a Tascam Porta One, but used it mostly as a scratch pad while writing songs. When the 90's hit, life hit, and all this stuff took a back seat for the next 25+ years. 

For therapeutic reasons, and the pandemic as well (having to spend more time at home), I decided it was time (2020) to get back into it, and I absolutely love it!

I like all kinds of music from pop, country, electronic, rock, folk, big band, orchestral, blue-grass, americana, etc. I'm really all over the map. As a kid I religiously watched anything relating to the NFL (yes I was a Cowboys fan) because of the music of NFL Films. I still listen to it today.

Some artists and bands I have liked over the years are Collective Soul, Cheap Trick, The Stones (of course), Waylon Jennings, Travis Tritt, John Mellencamp, and Glen Campbell. I even liked KISS as kid in the 70's. Of course when they got into disco and then hair-metal, that was an ender for me but I still like their stuff in the 70's quite a bit.

I got "more" into music at about 14 (1980). That summer Eddie Rabbit released an album named "Horizon" (which I played endlessly) and about a month later AC/DC released "Back in Black". Now that's a combination for you! While they were miles apart sonically, they had one thing in common: good, catchy songs.

With all that said, the one band that I've always loved, and just struck a chord with me, is The Who. Not sure how to explain it. I "discovered" them well after their heyday of course. Maybe it's the anthemic nature of their songs? Maybe it's the creative genius of their chief songwriter/guitarist (my opinion)? Maybe it's the sound they produced as a 3-piece band, where they didn't really have a "lead" guitarist -- their bassist essentially filled that role (and quite admirably too)? Maybe the drummer, who played everything as one big fill? I don't know but I thought they were fantastic. Still do.
